https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c93kdgnnw2zo How you guys feeling about Madueke? The word I am hearing from most Arsenal fans outside of this forum is that y'all are not keen at all. Arteta seems adamant on it from what I understand, and he was the driving force behind the Havertz deal as well. Madueke is a decent player, though with the acquisition of Pedro, Gittens and Estevao, and with Neto cementing his place as a starter on the right, it looks like Madueke's day with us are numbered. £50m is the price we are insisting on, though if it goes through it'll most like be something like £42m plus add ons. Thing is he plays in Saka's position, and Saka is obviously a better player, so he will, for all intents and purposes, be back up to Saka, who is known to get injuries from time to time, so I can see what Arteta is trying to do, but am a little surprised as there are cheaper options out there, likely with more potential
He's decent enough, and scored 11 goals last season. But we just don't need him We've got Saka in that position and Nwaneri pushing for a start behind him Seems like an odd allocation of £50m when we could be putting that towards Rodrygo or Eze
Aye I tend to agree. I said the same thing about Havertz, you needed a striker and spent £65m on an attacking midfielder who can play as a false nine, when you probably could have gotten Osimhen for a similar price. Not that Havertz has been terrible for you, he has chipped in with some important goals, it just seems like an odd move out of left field. Your manager is weird sometimes
****in right he is Arsenal fans were aghast when we dropped £65m on Havertz, but he's actually turned out to be really decent for us (albeit he still misses some absolute sitters) I just don't get the Madueke one. We've got two really good young RWF and we absolutely need to strengthen in other areas. If we can get Madukeke as an addition to our squad, AFTER we've signed Eze, Rodrygo and Gyorkeres, then I'd be up for it. But would he want to just be a squad player anyway ?
Aye, surely the reason he wants out of Chelsea is because we have signed Pedro, Gittens and Estevao and there are going to be lots of players vying to start in a wide forward role, so why leave and join a club where he is going to have the exact same problem? He will at best be 2nd choice for the right wide role, maybe even 3rd if Nwaneri kicks on and fulfils his potential. Madueke CAN play on the left, and has done a few times for us, but he has been pretty ****e when he has if I am honest, and if you go for Rodrygo or Eze, he is going to have the same problem playing on the left to, so I dont really understand this. The only people who win is Chelsea, who get £50m for a fringe player, but Arsenal get a meh squad player, and the player himself ends up in the exact same situation, but a few miles more North
Liverpool are soo much better at selling than us. Nunes looks to be going to Napoli for 47m - not bad for a player who flopped.
The Madueke thing definitely looks like it’s got legs. I can only imagine that Arteta thinks he can use him on the left and as backup on the right ? I dunno. I’m not opposed to the deal, but I hope it’s not at the expense of Rodrygo or Eze
Ornstein and Romano now reporting that we’re in talks with Chelsea to sign Madueke. Like I say, I’m not opposed to the deal, but not if it’s at the expense of a Rodrygo or Eze
If we sign Madueke, we don't get both of Rodrygo or Eze. We may get one, but not both. It's a ridiculous signing and we've offered £50m as an opening offer. Utterly insane.
I can't say I have any enthusiasm for this deal, but if it happens I'll get behind Madueke I remember thinking wtf, when we signed Raya and Havertz, but both have turned out to be key signings One thing is for sure, Arteta and the board do not give a flying **** about what fans think about the signings Which to be fair, is probably the right stance to take if they think a player will fit what they want.
Have to say I don’t rate Kudus much. Not sure I’m fussed about that signing. Madueke and Kudus are similar abilities so it worries me that the Kudus deal will be used as a yardstick
Kudus is more of a battering ram style of player, where at least Madueke has some finesse. But I'm struggling to find much to get excited about this deal
Even if we'd signed Eze and/or Gyokeres first, I wouldn't be too bothered about Madueke. Though I would still be underwhelmed given I wanted Rodrygo. But it's the fact that he looks likely to be our next signing and we still don't know what's going to happen with the others that has me concerned.
