I live in hope. I still think we've got a good chance of retaining Jobe.

Was thinking along the same lines, who's gona want him? Hes not going to improve over there hes very likely to go backwards , I can't see top clubs taking on an expensive goalkeeper that's not played competitive football for 2/3 years.

Yep, players Saudi teams have spent vast sums on. The rest of the squad is made up of players nobody has heard of.

They play their games in empty stadiums in a competition nobody takes particularly seriously. I get it for the cash, but for an ambitious player its not where you'd be playing your football.

    Imo of course.

Are the Saudis exempt from any kind of control over what they can spend.

We have this PSR thing. Like it or not it at least tries to even things out a bit.
I would guess all other European clubs are subject to some kind of control.

If the Saudis can do whatever they want with no control over their spending I can see a lot more players going there to play to a few hundred Arabs for a £million a game.

Isn’t there some organisation that should be controlling this, FIFA or something like it.
The Saudis have unlimited money so what’s to stop them buying football.
The mags can’t do it here but their owners can do it in Saudi.
Maybe they will find a way to destroy our domestic footy using the mags.

We should contact Thomas Ravelli to see if he's willing to come out of retirement.

All relative I suppose. His worst case scenario is probably come and sit on a big club bench for 25k a week having already earned 30m for three years. There are certainly worse things.

I’ve just had confirmation that the organisation Brown Envelope FIFA will not be getting involved. Something to do with washing and sports and handers from the back.

gotta be honest I'm a bit "meh" with him. Doesn't really excite me. I'm more excited by Mayenda and we don't have to pay £20m+ for him.

I cant get excited by any striker link for the same reason, Lyon lad yesterday aside, I just want to see mayenda ripping it up, Wilson feels like a forgotten man too think he could thrive playing against higher lines

I agree really. Our current side already wins the league. What's an extra striker really needed for? Although we might need reinforcements for the domestic treble I suppose as Hjelde can only play the role of 3-4 men.

I don't usually pipe up on here much at all, nvm on linked players but --- Abline is a player I actually know a lot about and he is a really strong talent, his goalscoring record doesn't look outrageous but he is steadily improving year on year and his off the ball work is brilliant (something we know is important in an RLB side)

Agreed, the league is getting stronger and saying he's "thrown his career away" or "has no ambition" is just bitterness imo.

He can easily go there for a year or two, earn enough money to keep his family comfortable for multiple generations, and then come back to Europe and play at just as high a level as we are offering.

I don't blame him at all, as I said earlier, the amount of money they've thrown at him he'd have to be absolutely insane not to take it.
