No probs. Slight amendment, we will have to knock off jobe and clarkes asset value at the time too, but that will be effectively be in the low millions as they were signed for buttons and had already had two years worth of amortisation knocked off that. Just how I understand it so could be wrong mate. Hopefully someone will clear it up if I’m talking ****e haha.
Not really. It all gets calculated as part of a 3 year cycle so it doesn’t affect us for the next two seasons. It’s all part of the same pot. Where it maybe does hurt us is in 27/28. By then we’ll no longer have the benefit of the sales. The effect of the incomings is negligible since they’ll be pro rata for the amount of time in 24/25 ie not much.
He's not getting parity like and he won't expect it to be fair. Le Feè and Diarra have played at a higher level and you have to pay more to sign them in the first place. I think most of our existing players will get bumps to £30-40k a week. Le Feè reportedly on £60k and I would expect that to be close to our ceiling.
Another question marra,(apologies for being thick) viewed a detailed video on the three promoted clubs, while Burnley and Leeds can run a bigger loss than us,because of being in the premier league for a season recently, how come we can spend considerably more than them?,up to 200million was quoted
We see the games only. Players arent paid for games only. Neil captained the side to promotion last year. His contribuition was significantly more than his performances or stats in a 90 minute game. It was clear to me the presence he has, and how players responded to him when watching his talk after the cov game. I would bet good money he sets standards in training and off the pitch generally, in his captaincy role. He has been a huge driving force this last season, and before. All of this adds up to someone who deserves to be in the top bracket for pay. As for Diarra etc being better. Maybe. For me they have to prove that, and they only do that in training over pre season. Then we see the 11 against West Ham. One thing I am quite sure of is if we rip the heart out of what got us here our mountain gets higher. Talent gets you so far. Commitment, togetherness, being a team and a squad takes you further.
We’ve made huge profits on Watson and jobe, 40 million ish. That can be spent and if amortised over 5 year contracts, that’s 200 mil. even if Leeds sold someone, a lot do their squad was bought for high fees and there’s few players they have that they could make a big profit on
@SkySports_Keith Expect a few more in the door like this for Sunderland this summer. ️ Talks taking place over multiple players, with the spine of the team set to be improved to compete on Premier League level. #SAFC planning to have a go in a bid to stay up, but if they do go back down they are still very strong. Goalkeeper Bulka close to a switch, plus high-level centre back, another centre midfielder and striker amongst priorities..
Wonder if we hear more about Angelino today, they are needing to sell by Monday i'm sure and it seems it's us and palace who are heavily interested, seen rumours of the price only being 12-13m euros now rather than 20m
It's class that it's been said Leeds were offering the same fee but he wanted to come here. Cause it would have been they overplayed to beat us to him!
last year his agent told the club he wouldn't sign a contract no matter what was offered because he wanted a new challenge, hopefully the prem will be that new challenge for him
The club will offer him what they think hes worth, same as when we were in the championship. I trust their judgement as they see him day in day out he would be daft not to sign imo
If we arent prepared to value our home grown players to the same level as those we buy for big money it is a dangerous path. I find it odd that arguably the most important player, a captain, playing in the hardest position, isnt valued in the same pay bracket. Remember, everyone so far is stepping up a level here, not just our existing players. Le Fee has had mixed success in his two big moves to date. 3rd time lucky I hope. Diarra too is stepping upto to the premier league. He looks ready, but as always there are risks.
Why are we speculating about Neil’s contract when nobody knows what he was offered and when, nor what the other signings are on. feels a pointless argument on a day we should all be giddy as **** about the future
Leeds made a £60m+ loss in their 23/24 accounts. That won’t be the final number for PSR but they won’t get rid of all of it. They’ll be permitted the same total 3 year loss as us (think it’s £62m or so) but they’ll have taken a bigger chunk out of it with the last few years than we did. We’ll be in the black for the two years given the Jobe and Watson sales. All means we’ve got more breathing space. We’ve just got to make sure that we don’t max ourselves out this year, as the whole thing unwinds by 27.
Cannot blame any player wanting to earn the going rate. Especially as part of the initial model chat from KS was that he wanted a player like Neil to be captaining the club in the Premier League.
