I would find it hard to believe the club never tried to get him signed up while in the championship mind
we probably did but it was probably his agents wanting to delay to see if we got promoted and he could command a higher wage
i wonder what Neil, cirkin, Hume, Ballard, tbh most of them expect 40k a week is very bottom of the barrel in premier league terms
Exactly. So cant really say its strange him being low paid compared to others when the club will have wanted to sign him up previously
they did but he didn’t sign and chose to see where we’d end up arguably the right thing to do from his perspective but it kept his options open should we have stayed down, now we’ve been promoted maybe the club have other ideas and based on links he may be left behind
Never sat well with me that. He never once shirked anything either, or let himself down. Deserves to be one of our top earners this season imo. Anything less and he would be right to be annoyed.
Question for the financial gurus on here. Has the Jobe,Le Fee and potentially Diarra deals being done before July 1st,cut off point for PSR financial year, make even more wriggle room for our spending power this season?
If there is one player I dont believe would be awkward it is Neil tbh. Unreal pro for such a relatively young lad.
Yes bit he will have had offers to sign in the championship like a load of others did but guessing he wanted to see where we were
I don’t think the club have let Neil down and I don’t think Neil has let the club down. There’s literally nothing to see here. There will always be wage imbalance when a club grows at the pace we have.
true and his bonus at the end of last season will have been hundreds of thousands, with the knowledge that whatever his salary is next year , it will be significantly more than last year. He’s probably blown through all of his savings in the past few weeks
As an exile, I'm the only lads fan I know bar family. Listed in a WhatsApp to my mates earlier all the players it looks like we might be about to sign, and then others who have been linked. All I got was have you just made up a load of names. They just don't get it!
The way I understand it is that all of the jobe fee will go in as income for PSR, as well as Watson and Clarke for the 24/25 financial year. Expenditure is amortised over contract lengths. I think ELF officially goes through on July 1st so he won’t come into 24/25. Same with Diarra even if he signs this weekend, we could effectively amortise 3 days out of 5 years which is pointless. Diarra and ELF combined will be around £10m worth of expenditure for 25/26 (for PSR terms). With the allowable loss being increased significantly with jobe, Watson and Clarke, we have significant wiggle room. If we stay up we may make another big sale next summer but I think the foundations are well in place to be significantly ahead of PSR requirements for a while yet.
Maybe he wanted the same assurances Jobe seemed to have, but wasnt given them? Who knows the ins and outs eh? The lad was reportedly one of our lowest paid first teamers last year. He has every right to now want top whack. I have no idea what Le Fee or Diarra will be on, but anything other than parity wouldnt sit well with me personally.
