Tasers can get stuck on clothes Not get a clean connection etc They can be very unreliable in actually downing someone unfortunately
I read that somewhere a while back They're something like 60% effective. A bit more effective than a baton when they work but absolutely useless when they don't.
I listened to an interesting podcast a while back which pointed to the huge amount of porn accessible to teenagers on the internet as being a large contributing factor as to why the amount of sexual assaults have risen so much. That timeline would go along with that given the dates coinciding with the internert becoming more and more accesible to people from the early 2000's onwards. Its a pretty common belief that watching porn is detremental to people full stop with the instant gratification and unrealistic expectations causing a number of mental health issues in regular watchers and I would be very interested to know how many of these attackers in the stats you highlight were exposed to Porn on a regular basis as they grew up, or even starting in adult life when it became more readily available. I spoke to my friend who was an RL coach in London and now works at the Met (last time we spoke he was on revenge porn, a whole team working on cases of ex partners sharing videos) and he said a lot of the attackers he sees with sexual assaults were under 30 and not the dirty old men you expect. He did also say however that a large percentage were not born in the UK which I know suits the narative of Rupert Lowe and his followers but it is too idealistic to blame people with brown faces for everything in my opinion. I fear we would never be given the accurate and true statistics on the above but one thing that is certain Ric is that you are right, people, especially young ladies, need to be very careful of going out alone in quiet places. The World is a very dangerous place now.
I remember seeing the footage of him being neglected on the floor of the police station. Disgraceful. Police should have been sacked after that. And then the morgue mixing up his body with an old woman!
Have you ever seen the video of Scott Moore the Wakefield player when he just brushed off the tasers? They tasered him about 4 or 5 times and he just walked through them although I think they did get him with one in the end. I know him, he is a tough lad, but it highlights how usless they are on some criminals.
My youngest Daughter is a bit of a free spirit in terms of drifting around the U.K for gigs(currently been in Liverpool since Weds).I worry myself sick about her at times but she's not for listening. She did kick boxing when she was 13 or 14 along with her brother,so she's got a bit about her but I believe women should be allowed to carry pepper spray etc. She got jumped and robbed walking along the Clyde after attending a gig at the Secc a few years back, gang of Roma, robbed her and roughed her up a bit, stole her new phone but we got it back a couple of days later off the Govan police. Caught a couple of the ****s that did it but it never proceeded to Court? Yes it's a scary world we live in
She was alright Jim,just a bit shaky and confused as to why her? It eventually transpired(initially through Facebook)that this group were carrying it out on a regular basis in that area and there were many complaints about them but little being done in terms of charges. It eventually sorted itself out in a vigilante kind of way and ceased pretty rapidly...
I've said for a while that the only way we will improve things for our kids is real men standing up and making the changes as the Police are either unwilling or unable to do it. When I was young I rememeber reading about the Guardian Angles, a group in New York who were formed to proect communities. Never did I for one minute think we would need to consider groups like this in and around where I live but its probably not far off being needed.
I like the vigilante approach to anyone that's ever ****ed with any of mine. Yes,I think they used to travel on the New York tube system, not sure if they still do but good people who made people feel safe Respect.
They're all over America now, they used to be in London as well, I used to see them round the West End when I lived there, but I think they jacked it in here.
I know Colin though, he was the Broncos Ladies coach when I was there. Very nice guy, proper straight up bloke.
Of all the places I have been to I would say Glasgow was one of the worst for not feeling comfortable as an English bloke alone going into a pub and ordering a pint. I am sure you know if it is really that bad but wherever I went I just felt like I was spot ball.
Yes,it can be a bit like that but it doesn't affect me as I lost my English accent many moons ago. I've heard the odd comment about the English in pubs and workplaces but I challenge it by saying "What was that mate,I'm English"....Aw sorry big man,I didn't mean you, just some of them Bark and Bite differ vastly wherever you go.
That he is! Think he retired from the Met a few year ago. I used to do sprint and fitness training for rugby teams in London for a couple of years in the mid-nineties after I couldn't play anymore, so we met through that and stayed in touch as I trained amateur rugby when I moved to Norway, occasionally met for a beer when I was back in London. Been a few years now. Small world though.
