"Oscar Zambrano is still likely to arrive, even though he cannot resume his career until November. Talks remain ongoing with LDU Quito in Ecuador."

I thought we had an option on him after the loan? Why are talks ongoing, are we trying renegotiate the terms?

In a word, yes.

It seems like Friday is D-Day, so we've not much longer to wait.

I don’t quite understand why Aston Villa are struggling with PSR. If they’re at risk of failing this summer, then the three-year period must be from 2022-2025. In that period, their net spend in terms of transfer fees alone is £80,445,235 but that’s not taking into account amortisation. They also got a lot of money from qualifying for the Champions League. I don’t know what their wage bill is like but I just don’t see how they’re close to making a loss of £105 million in the last three years.

They made a loss of £85.4m last year alone.

This year, the 2021/22 season (when they sold Jack Grealish and didn't lose money as a consequence), drops off the three year cycle and makes things very tight.

Is that the 2023/24 season? Their net spend on transfer fees for the 2024/25 season is negative even before taking amortisation into account. Plus, they had the money from the Champions League this year.

He's young enough and supposedly good enough, all set up for 'Chelsea type' deal, contract and payment over 7+ years, and sell down line once his value has increased significantly. In the meantime we get him to bang in some goals (think that's what they are called, never seen many recently). Simple this transfer business.
Aren’t they trying to stop these long deals & payments because of Chelsea?

You made me Google Hood River, looks a beautiful place <ok>
Indeed it is. And full of recreational opportunities in particular windsports on the River-Wingfoiling, Kitefoiling/Kitesurfing,Windsurfing and now Para Winging.
But I gotta say even given its reputation Darlington still thas its treasures, drive just a few miles out of the City and you are in the Dales with some of the most stunning scenery in the UK.

I for one don’t want Barry. His fee will be crazy, and we have our two wingers. Spend any money we have on a striker.

We can't rely on wingers who are unlikely to be reliably fit and firing until weeks or months into the season - it's rare for there not to be setbacks given the nature of their injury and the time spent out.

We would also need cover regardless and the owner has said he doesn't want to be risking us having to play central players in wide positions again this season, so I expect we'll be looking for 1 wide player if Kamara stays, 2 if he goes.

Whether Barry would be value for money or not is a different matter entirely.

If the fee is inflated v value, then agree. For what its worth I watched him play for Stockport 3 times, and he was a central striker which I understand is his preferred position?
