Adama Traore is streets and streets ahead of Roberts so yes he'd get in our team. Would I want him? No. But he'd go straight in as one of our better players and he ain't even that good.
I’d love to know exactly what you base that opinion on. He can run straight and fast with the ball, and is strong. Roberts is literally streets and streets ahead of him with passing ability and skill. Whilst I think we massively need to improve on Robert’s, I don’t think Traore improves us one bit in that respect. As I mentioned to LD, he could never see the pass Roberts played to Mayenda, let alone actually pull it off

I’d say pace and power are more important for teams who lack possession and need to counter at pace, like we will. Obviously the players need to be good footballers as well. It’s about balance.

Then as we develop a side who have more possession then we would prioritise skill and technique higher.

I’d imagine it’s because he plays for an 11th placed side in the premier league nigh on week in week out. Come on now guys…

Based on per90 stats, Traore has more assists, higher xA, the same pass accuracy%, more chances created, more successful crosses, more successful dribbles and a higher dribble success%, is dispossessed less and wins more fouls. All while playing in a much harder league. So that's what it's based on.

Surprised there hasn't really been any movement yet other than this new Sporting Director looking likely. Thought we would have had a couple of board by now.

Taking it as us being confident we can take our time and get the right people.

Give it a couple of weeks Disco. Then it’ll be “typical Sunderland. Always leaving it to the last minute”. And of course “Does Speakman know what he’s doing?”.

He’s better than what we’ve got, for starters. You’re naive if you believe pace and power isn’t required in the PL these days.

You’re naive to think that you just need pace and power.

You can find plenty of players in league 1 and 2 with pace and power, plenty in non league too.

You need players with quality. Pace and power is great when running the 100m, but it can’t thread a killer pass, or put the ball in the back of the net.

With much better players. Do you think he has the vision to see the pass or the ability to play the through ball Roberts did in the play off final? Ignoring stats, just using that as a yardstick? I e watched him, and he certainly doesn’t and wouldn’t have. I’d rather have the skill of Roberts than anything like Adama Traore regardless of xA etc. Ajd I don’t think Roberts is anywhere near good enough for the PL!

I don’t think Traore would’ve got the assists Roberts did last season.

I never once said that :emoticon-0148-yes: You clearly haven’t read all the posts.

It's often like this. We can't see it,but it'll be busy busy in the offices...mobiles constantly on charge...KLD's plane at the ready....even the old fax machine will be on standby!:emoticon-0102-bigsm

Maybe we are waiting for the new directer to be anonced as he supposed have lots of contacts in Europe

There’s my input
Zouma on a free would be pretty solid, mind. Incidentally I'd also be interested in Michail Antonio if WHU cut him loose (and his leg still works). I do like the idea of a bit of PL nouse up top that wouldn't necessarily expect to start every game.

I think he is crap tbh and never seen him have a good game. :emoticon-0102-bigsm
