I dont think its 'simping' over mcburnie
Its the nature of most contract talks
Especially when a player is available on a free
We will find out in a week if he signs for us or not

I dont even like him, think hes a ****
But i want him to sign for us
But hes fine to weigh up his options
Thats one part of being a free agent

I think you struggle to find a better all round forward in the championship than mcburnie
Especially without spending £10m
He'll pledge his undying allegiance to the highest bidder...Football innit.

Dublin will have a list of strikers from all over the world to target, we just need to make sure we have at least 1 in by the time we go to Turkey

.... 5 or more years ago
I would have absolutely agreed with that but just looked at his record. Hardly missed a game in 5 years and scored 1 in 4 last season. Probably bit old but wouldn't be the worst shout. Looks like they were trying to agree new terms but couldn't, hence him leaving.

He'd most likely be a better shout than Sharp was, I grant you that!
But do we really want a 35 y.o. striker, one who Bristol City don't want to keep, even if it's back up (to Joseph & Burstow!!)?

I'd certainly consider him as a rotation option. Let's be honest we need more than one striker right now, although with Joseph already on the books I'd probably lean more towards giving him opportunities as that rotation option. If the plan is to bring in two 'good enough' strikers then we should hopefully be 'done' in that area of the pitch.

It’s been said Jakirović likes a big target man up front but I think that’s a bit simplistic.

I’ve watched a few full matches online of Rijeka from the 22/23 season and the 23/24 season (before he left for Dinamo Zagreb). In both seasons, his main strikers were Matija Frigan (22/23) and Franjo Ivanović (23/24). Neither are your traditional target man. They aren’t short but they’re not huge either. They’re very mobile strikers who are quick, agile, like to run in behind or drift wide and are good at dribbling.

In fact, both Frigan and Ivanović remind me of Abel Hernández. Similar height, build, playing style etc.

Would love Frigan.

It's frustrating that we're still not really linked with much in the way of power and pace. For all the early business we've done, we've not actually addressed a single weakness.

Probably not. I am comparing to what we currently have and the bar is very low!

I am pleased we aren't being linked with players left right and centre. Hopefully this means we going about our business professionally and discreetly.

Maybe we or Acun has learnt some lessons from the past pre-seasons.
