Please stop with this link because I'd already convinced myself he was away to the turkish league I dont want to be given any hope for my dreams to be dashed haha

In all seriousness looks like the profile of striker who will be able to perform in the prem - very Mateta like

I don’t recall ever seeing Jack down tools. He had a few poor games and was doubled up on to point of being ineffective a few times but he always put the effort in.

Clarke in that team last season would’ve been unstoppable. Clarke from our first season back up with Neil, Le Fee, Bellingham and Roberts behind Mayenda in the championship would be carnage.

Guessand would be right up there as my dream signing as a right sided forward, to compete with roberts.

granted i only know him from doing a lil bit of transfer research recently and others will know far more about him than i.

To go all moneyball, if we can add a tall lad onto the right, it helps to replace part of Jobe’s physicality in the aggregate.

Benefit of hindsight there isn't there?

In the window Clarke went we were largely considered by many to practically be a one man team. He was definitely considered a key player by the vast vast majority.

    As you probably know
I’m not interested in this thread it’s too confusing talking about players we are not interested in or players been sold and going elsewhere
I’m only interested in Sunderland rumours whowever are interested in and out
I’m trawling through this transfer rumours pages and find all sorts of banter why can’t we have a sunderland rumours only on sticky just like that was started a few weeks ago then mods merged it into this one
    Just my opinion though

Looking at Evann Guessand's stats, he is very productive and versatile across the front line. Could be a good target if the price isn't too high.

    https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/eva...24&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=

Thinking of how well-drilled and hard-working our team is, the basic stats can't show how well a player would work in RLB's system. Crucial, yet difficult, for Speakman to bring in players that will slot in OK with the togetherness and football intelligence the lads showed last season.

Even the mods would agee mate but inevitably we’d all talk about Sunderland and end up confused anyway so might as well stay confused rather than unconfused for a while then reconfused when the confusion confuses everyone.

Great post! What I think too. It's a fabulous deal by the club, bringing Jobe in and out, which gives RLB an opportunity to craft a midfield that works the way he wants it to.

I think people are confusing down tooling and not being able to get back to his earlier highs after a injury in a spiralling team

    Yep.

Jack went, we were forced into a change of approach and we gained.

Likely a change of CM shape and structure does similar in big league.

We’ve lost bigger players than Jobe, we all know his potential but there was always gonna be ‘is he PL ready’.

Not suggesting I wouldn’t have liked him to stay but it’s hardly gonna end us. There’s many, many options to replace and upgrade.

I’ve got some big news - I am retiring from the world of work.

So I bought my first ever season ticket, it’s a bit of a trek from Berkshire but I have more time on my hands and do plan to continue with the match threads <cheers>

Firstly, awesome that you'll keep doing the match threads. Secondly, how flippin' great for you. I hope you really enjoy your retirement and get the most out of your new Saturday hobby!

I'd love to do something similar when I retire but I've got about 100 years. :D
