The ranking isn't important in the new single league system. Every team plays two teams from each pot.

The ranking gives a coarse measure of the capability of each team.

Anyone with basic nous on season planning
would want to know the comparative strength of
8 possible opponents at specific points of the
    season, months in advance ...

Why can't we face, for example, Bayern Munich?

Spurs can, in a world without human "cut and paste" textual error.

Mason Melia with a goal and an assist in St Patrick's 2-0 win over Hegelmann, with them winning the tie 3-0 on aggregate

They now go into the 2nd qualifying round of the Europa Conference League.
They face Kalju, which is apparently an Estonian team and not a giant Japanese monster.
Their stadium has a capacity of 650:

    Looks nice, though.

Some clarification on Palace being in the EL2 :

Their owner also has a stake in Lyon, who also
qualified for the EL. Which triggered UEFA
    punishment under their 'multi-ownership' rules.

It seems since Lyon qualified via their league placing
and not a domestic cup win, that the club with the
easier qualification path (Palace) got the punishment
instead (will be interesting to see this scenario when two such
clubs qualify for the same competition via the same path) .

Palace were hopeful that it wouldn't be an issue.
This is why John Textor missed the deadline for shifting his shares.
Lyon were relegated in June due to their finances and then it was reversed.
