completely agree. We need better than Moore. Harsh but that’s what happens with progression.

There's going to be a lot of movement on elite strikers this summer. The main fight seems to be over Gyokeres with Arsenal seemingly eying up Sesko as a back up target.

I think the club that signs Ekitike from Frankfurt might get the best of the lot though. He reminds me a lot of Isak with his height, frame and movement. He's got great footwork and knows where the goal is. Very classy striker. Hopefully he's not wasted at a club like Man Utd.

Yep I want a GK coming in and expecting ti challenge Patterson for the no1 jersey. I'd be fine if that person was Johnstone, solid GK who will challenge Patterson but not kick up fuss if he wasn't starting.

I think you’re giving Andrews too much credit he couldn’t get the mk dons job and you think he can successfully manage a Brentford side that’s going to lose at least their top scorer

I think that if it doesn't work they will have replaced the players well enough that sacking him early will give them enough time to be comfortable.

But also that it's not worth writing Edwards off now, he's a very highly thought of coach.

It's giving Brentford credit isn't it? They've shown for a decade or so now that they know what they're doing, very few missteps along the way.

Exactly, they had dean smiths replacement in house as a coach (Thomas Frank) ready for when he left.

They are now looking at the highly rated coach they currently have and who clearly feel has the best understanding of franks approach and could replicate it.

Will it work out? Who knows, but I'd back them to make some good decisions - might be slightly biased since their DoF is my cousin.

Yep. They have enough credit in the bank over the last 8 years or so to take a risk. They have a very specific way of doing things so you could argue that an external appointment would be a greater risk than someone who knows how they operate and is happy with that.

The only thing to undermine my own point is that they were priming Cochrane to be Frank's replacement weren't they (you'll know better than me with your very impressive family connection) and will be upset that he's been tempted away with Frank? They obviously see something in Andrews that they really like though to headhunt him in the first place and now to have him in the conversation to be the main man.

Tbf that's not wrong, Cochrane probably would have been the favourite but Andrews has been really important in a lot of the improvements they've made from 23/24 to 24/25. I think Frank really appreciates his insight into things that happen in games and although he's "set piece coach" he was a really important part of the coaching staff.

I think they have a really solid base and aren't just Mbeumo and Wissa FC, the other 9 players in their XI would probably start for us which is slightly scary.

I don't know for certain if Andrews is/was a frank suggestion but it wouldn't surprise me if he told them to at least interview and give him an opportunity to convince them.

To undermine me undermining my own point, they no doubt don't put all their eggs in one basket and will have contingencies ready to go. I'm guessing they will have known there's always a high likelihood that the assistant follows the head coach so Andrews will have always been in their thoughts in the eventuality that Cochrane went with Frank.

If he even gets the job, we know pretty well that the odds don't always mean someone is guaranteed. All the reports are just that he's being considered and is "favourite" which then refers back to the betting odds.

But yeah to the original point I think wolves and west ham will be the 2 we need to be catching.

It’s more the player losses that I think will hurt Brentford.

Frank was superb for them but that’s easier to replicate than the Wissa/Mbuemo partnership.

They are losing so much output as individuals but times 5 for the instinctive way they played off each other.

Almost impossible to replace that so it’s a potential change of style and setup which can easily lead to a massive downturn.

They had a bad run in them as a side even with those 2.

Priority wise it has to be wingers for me. Mundle is literally the only winger we have at the club who could maybe step up and offer an output. We need depth and competition for him and we need a new right side on the wing imo

Not sure I agree mate. Opposition managers will have researched and realised put pressure and numbers on him completely nullifys him.

And leave more space for Mayenda and Mundle?

Nobody is setting up to nullify Paddy as a priority against us next year, he will definitely have more space IMO.

‘Challenging for the no1 jersey’ is a lie that gets told. Players don’t challenge, they merely stage manage a replacement. See Verbruggen or Raya for recent examples. Any keeper we get who is willing to chance sitting on the bench isn’t gonna make a difference if we lose our keeper for a long time. We either replace Patto or we don’t. Fine we could chance our arm on a Moore upgrade but there’s only one first choice keeper in my view.
