That was when Malaga had serious money behind them wasn't it?
Aye. They would have established but the city ****ed the owners over.
They wanted to put proper roots down, we’re gonna build a marina that could dock cruise ships, all private funded and create thousands of jobs.
The province then decided they wouldn’t let them and they essentially stopped backing the club (but did at least keep it funded)
They still own it currently but there’s big interest from the Liverpool owners and a few more.
It is a decent club, proper fans and the expat community really gets behind it as well. Stadium is topper (bar the lack of roof which is brutal on the Costa)
They dropped into 3rd but fortunately got straight back up (stay down 2-3 years and you are toast it’s mad getting from the 3rd tier in Spain) and stabilised well.
Sadly the ****s up the road have nicked their big prospect but they in good shape.
They should be La Liga so I hope whoever takes it on takes it serious. City group own Girona, Malaga capable of much more.
It’s a trek and a half to Sevilla for Betis/Sevilla and Granada is very localised so they have a huge catchment area.
Used to love going Roselada.
