Seeing the way he talks, and what has been said about him, I'm pretty sure he won't be 'hugging pals' with the players and give them time off after games, 'Come in on Wednesday lads, we'll have a kick about, I love you'

I'm sure he isn't like that and everything I've heard and read says he isn't. If you get on the wrong side of him, don't put a shift in - some players might get shocked.

And really that's all most of us ask for - try hard, play the best football that suits the occasion and opponents and if you lose, well that happens sometimes, but when the final whistle blows everyone can see the genuine effort.

That is all we want surely?

Win some games would be geat but having players you know are trying for the club and fans is a start.
The players loved Poch and he worked them to the bone. We need to be so much fitter and stronger if we want to compete this season and have even a flicker of hope of staying up next year.

I saw in his podcast he said he believes in being close to his players and he thinks his age helps him with that, also that people have asked him before if he thinks it's right to be 'close' to the group but he said he can't imagine being any other way. But he also seems quite firm on 'yeah but I am still your boss' which is probably the best mix

100% agree. Be friendly, kind, any boss should be that, but it should always be known what is expected, and it should always be known who the boss is. I think he will be that. I always thought Martin hugging players like they were his bestest mates wasn't the best message to send.

Yeah but that’s a little worry for me - do we have the players to perform this way? Definitely will depend so much on outgoings & incomings. Fingers x’d.

Speak nicely but carry a big stick is a good adage to live by.

Its got to the point where its laughable calling the manager the boss. Players on 5 million a year cant be made top do anything they don't want to do and have all the protections in the world.
Being mates/having a good relationship and having them respect you is all that you can hope for.

That`s where good recruitment comes in - bring in players who have the right attitude as well as ability.

Always used to say to my students‘I will be friendly, you can trust me but I’m NOT your friend’

The team should police itself. If any player steps out of line or slacks off, they will have the rest of the team to contend with.

Russell Martin to be the next Rangers manager. Hard to know who I want to win the least in the Old Firm derbies now, him or Brenda.
