enzo is in the midfield 2, we need a Jobe clone

neil is not worth persisting with if it’s keeping Enzo out of position

Enzo played 30 mins in his best position all season in that final and it showed
Worth mentioning, Sheff Utd were largely out on their feet by that point (their fitness and conditioning has been pretty abysmal all season).
The difference between Neil and Le Fee may not have been so stark if it had been vice versa (Le Fee starting there and Neil coming in after 70 mins).

I understand your point but think you’re neglecting the fact that it’s the premier league and a squad game. Players will get reduced game time but in the premier league and on premier league money.

Tommy Watson was willing to leave us to get that. Some of our players WILL be willing to stay for less game time. That’s just how the premier league works.

If Dan Neil is suddenly playing 25 games instead of 38 he’s hardly going to go back to the championship. And any other premier league move would see him playing even less. Which is a move he wouldn’t make based off your argument that players only sign for clubs if they’re going to start games.
Maybe just me but I dont see it that way. I think most players would hate less game time.

I am not even sure I see a lot of rotation in league games. The Chelseas of this world maybe, or those with European games. But if I look at the likes of Brentford I see a core group who play 30 plus league games. Then I dont see much evidence Regis is heavy on changing the line up too much. There is much to be said for a settled side where he values things like triangles on each side.

I think we have a very fine balance to strike next season. We have progressed so well in significant part by giving young players there pathway. Rigg is here because of his first team appearances for example. And the academy is full of exceptional talent because they know they get a chance here. We have to balance the need for more quality, with the need to demonstrate our academy remains a place of choice. If we lose that I think we lose what is making us special again.
