My son-in-law is a Sunderland fan but he also has a soft spot for Liverpool. So, as it was a Bank Holiday, he took my eldest daughter and 2 year-old grandson to watch the parade yesterday.
They parked at Manchester, then got the train in to Liverpool.
When the incident occurred yesterday, all of the trains and buses out of Liverpool were stopped, so they decided to look for a hotel/guest house, as they didn't want my grandson on the streets for an indefinite period.
To their dismay, hotel and guest house prices had rocketed to ridiculous levels. Most hotels were charging around £700 for the night and the worst example I saw online was a guest house called Kop View, who normally charged £43 for a room and was now charging £3,396.
What ever happened to Community spirit? There should be a law passed to prevent these establishments increasing their tariffs. For me, it's the worst form of exploitation.
