I don't really get it, Claude Puel had vast amounts of experience in France before he came here and a fair amount of real success with big clubs too yet he was greeted with lots of scepticism when appointed. Will Still is only 32 and hasn't really achieved anything yet and has only 125 games as a manager yet some fans are willing to overlook these facts. Is it his unusual back story or his age that is the difference? Is he a hipster choice? I think he's a big gamble like Pellegrino was and as Magic says I would prefer a more experienced pair of hands at this time.
No thanks. Would rather spend every Saturday afternoon at the dentists than watch a Dyche team not playing football.
Claude Puel arrived after successive top six finishes and one of the most exciting periods in club history and then sent everybody to sleep and then ****ed up our Europa League group, to be fair Our next manager is coming in after a miserable period and into a time with much lower hopes and aspirations
With a weakened squad tbf and we did something that season but I'm talking about when he arrived and maybe Still will be another Pellegrino we don't know that's what i'm saying. He hasn't achieved anything in the game yet.
Good luck with Will Still if he does agree to join. He played us (Sunderland) along for a few weeks before jumping at the chance to join Lens. I prefer Regis le Bris
Every single manager had the same amount of experience as Still at some point in their careers. Some of the experienced managers we have had recently really haven't had a clue so experience doesn’t always bring success. If he comes here I for one will back him.
If he's appointed i'll support the team, I just think it's a risk that we don't have to take right now.
From a piece of analysis that Alfie House has written today: ' 'Still's side are bottom half for touches in their own third but top four in Ligue 1 for touches in the opposition third, and top for crosses attempted' No more ****ing about in the first third of the pitch needlessly? Interesting
The alternative view is don't waste the parachute payments, appoint someone with a good record in the Championship.
If we are 'rolling the dice' with WS, so be it. He cannot possibly be worse than the utter rubbish that has come before him under SR and he will have less of the mindset of 'underachieving-baggage' the other journeyman managers bring with them. So it's only up from me, because it cannot go any lower than it currently is. Thank you SR (for nothing).
You could never know what it's like Your blood like winter freezes just like ice And there's a cold and lonely light that shines up there You'll wind up like the wreck you hide behind that scarf you wear And did you think this team could never win Well look at us, we’re coming back again We got a taste of winning in a simple way And if you need to know why Will Still’s standing you just run away Don't you know Will Still’s standing better than he ever did Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid Will Still’s standing after all this time Picking up the pieces of our team without Gao on our mind Will Still standing yeah yeah yeah Will Still standing yeah yeah yeah Once we never could hope to win Now we’re starting down the road and winning again The points we won were enough to send us down And if our club was just a circus Russ would be a clown by now Y' know, Will Still’s standing better than he ever did Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid Will Still’s standing after all this time Picking up the pieces of my life without Gao on our minds Will Still’s standing yeah yeah yeah Will Still’s standing yeah yeah yeah Don't you know Will Still’s standing better than he ever did Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid Will Still’s standing after all this time Picking up the pieces of our team without Gao on our mind Will Still’s standing yeah yeah yeah Will Still’s standing yeah yeah yeah Will Still’s standing yeah yeah yeah Will Still’s standing yeah yeah yeah Apologies to Bernie Taupin
But who? I'm seeing a few 'mid-tabley' managers available but beyond that... not really much by way of options. I would've liked Cooper and was pretty sold on Rohl, but if Rohl is faffing about and not ready to go, and Still is, then I am in favour of pivoting to him
The last manager we appointed with as little experience as Still from a mid-table club in a foreign league was Pellegrino, that's my concern.
