I know they’re a parachute payment club and we aren’t, but just look at the Quality on the Sheff U bench compared to ours, the drop off in quality between our first 11 and second choice is too big and needs to improve drastically, that’s where I’d spend any money we have.

The Scouts and coaches both need to do better
Raw talent over the years, (developing them, particularly strikers) has helped the likes of Peterborough survive and flourish
For a bigger club we don’t seem to be consistent with spotting and developing real talent

Agree, odd isn’t it, apart from Semenyo, striker is one position we’ve not developed well over the years

We tried cheap punts for strikers last season, we’re now stuck with 2 with 3 years remaining on their contracts, you think we can afford to buy two quality strikers or risk buying more cheap punts? and a keeper?, not going to happen

They need to move them on-clearly someones head needs to roll- not going to get anything like the funds backs-but we need improvements at front and back.

With what money? You can’t seem to grasp it can you. We can only afford punts on the chance they come good.

Plus if we did find a home for them and they start banging in the goals, you and your negative twin will be first to complain. Ala Szmodrics

Liam Manning on Norwich’s radar <confused><confused><confused>

Bristol City yet to receive approach from Norwich City for head coach Liam Manning amid reports
Bristol Live understands Norwich City are yet to make an approach for Liam Manning amid reports the Canaries are interested in the Bristol City head coach
Bristol City are yet to receive an approach from Norwich City for Liam Manning, Bristol Liveunderstands, despite suggestions the Robins' head coach is of interest to the Canaries.

Reports emerged on Friday afternoon that Manning, who guided the Reds to a first play-off finish in 17 years this season, has drawn the interest of the managerless Canaries, who have been without a head coach since they sacked Johannes Hoff Thorup last month.
Former Wolves and Bournemouth boss Gary O'Neil is also reported to be on Norwich's shortlist, as is Jurgen Klopp's former assistant Pep Ljinders, who has been without a club since leaving Red Bull Salzburg in December of last year.

Manning is bound to attract attention for what he’s done with what’s at his disposal and good luck to him if he gets a better job with a bigger club

Unfortunately, stats prove it doesn’t always work out well in the end

the reason we failed against Sheff U was our non first choice players weren’t good enough, we need a squad of quality and depth, it’s not the 1970’s anymore.

Not sure why you mention the 1970s.
It was important then as it is now to have a good keeper.
I believe a good keeper is as important as a good striker. The difference between our opinions is one of priority.
The top teams in every league right down to the Western league have a good keeper, the best available.
Look at the Premier League, you're more aware of these keeper's at Man City, Liverpool, Villa, Newcastle etc but my opinion, I believe, to be proved is what Arteta did at Arsenal. He got rid of an England keeper to bring in Raya.

Ps I get the squad depth needs increasing but our priority is a better keeper and striker.

Pps the '1970’s'......again my point of a good keeper......the best outfield players never to win the European Cup were Leeds Utd who had a suspect keeper Gary Sprake.

Hope Antoine gets sold for £50m plus

Then the plan should be - keep our prized assets (Knight etc), and spend the money on a quality forward

David Harvey was an improvement when he came along
Cloughie always said the 3 most important players are down the middle of the pitch
Keeper, centre half and centre forward
And he should know signing the likes of Shilton, Lloyd, Francis/ Woodcock and co and winning 2 European Cups
It will never happen again but I’m glad I saw it

Liam Manning got us to 6th spot and therefore the play-offs and that alone meant he would attract attention from other clubs. I am not so sure the Liam is ready for the big time but he may improve his lot by managing a team that shows commitment to going to the Premier League and Norwich has done that a few times and in between they were annual challengers for the play-offs from the Championship but failed this year. Bristol City seem to be happy just drifting with the tide and taking whatever comes their way but if only they had the balls to step up and be counted right from the off then things might be a lot more exciting down at the Gate. Liam would almost certainly get more leeway to get in decent players at a parachute club which is a lot more than he can expect from us with all of our attention going towards the FFP trap which severely limits our transfer market activity.

He was lucky to be on the pitch but anyone who saw Henderson yesterday and Raya for Arsenal today must realise the importance of signing the best keeper available.
Almost single-handedly they won the game for their teams.

Then put an outfield player in goal if that’s the case. Joe Williams? , extreme I know but you get the point. We need to improve the quality and depth of the squad, that imo is the priority, of course it’s only my view, others may disagree.

The Keeper should be able to saves shots. A not unusual development of building a team is to recruit players with the keystone skills to fit the football played.

How do Max O'learys keystone skills fit City's football? He is limited. Very.

City have a team where integral players in its spine are limited in goal and up front by far the best option is approaching thirty five years of age.

His shot stopping is pretty good for this level, his command of the box and his distribution; however, are not.
