Why does everyone think that when a manager gets sacked we have to pay them until they get another job? It will depend on what's agreed to and put in the contract. I know of some people in business who have a paid for upto a year or until a new job clause in their contracts. Why would a reasonably well paid manager take another job when the former club will pay him forever?
Probably paid him of with the money saved on not having to pay the players an end of season bonus for finishing 4th from bottom. Also written into managers contacts is probably a clause where they can be dismissed if the club finishes in a certain position, similar to the clause which pays them a hefty bonus for reaching the Play Off's etc.
Still not a good look.

I'd guess that Selles would be paid off to the end of his contract, the same as Walter and most other managers. Not sure that he would have signed from Reading if there was a 'finish above mid table or get sacked with no payment' clause.

More upset about the lack of continuity and another summer spent rebuilding, rather than renovating. I think Selles will be a good championship manager, but he's not in Rosenior's league.

90% of contracts are standard, as party that broke the contract, you either pay full sum after employment is broken or you let it run in its natural course, so cash flow is not disrupted and you usually benefit couple of percent due to inflation in price index.

The fact that you need to stop paying after new employment is not certain, depends on agreement.

Agreed. Hopefully a big clear out this summer. Pay players off that dont want to be here.
And bring in who exactly? Our recruitment has been pretty dire of late and we end up scrambling around picking up cast-offs that no-one else is interested scrapping over.We really need to stop this constant turnover,it's hindering any kind of progress.

2022 we sack McCann to bring in Arveladze, four managers later and the club's still on 'rinse/repeat' mode - it's a good job our owners in the media business because you certainly wouldn't want him organising piss-ups in breweries!

We have brought in a new recruitment team. Are you happy to start the season with Regan Slater, Pedrow and Burstow in the squad? We will be in the same position in 12 months time, the majority of this squad is mentally weak and not up to the standard, that is why we finished clinging onto our Championship status by a thread.

Time to clear the decks and build a team around the bit of quality we have.

You mean, clear the decks AGAIN? I love how you sycophants spout any old **** - we're where we are because of your Turkish buddy, no-one else.

I agree that we're not up to the standard,I also agree that's why we limped over the line on goal difference. That's down to the owner, his recruitment has been shoddy at best.

I don't think we'll have too much trouble clearing the decks. Some will go due to end of contract, some will go because they want to and some will go because we don't fancy paying them their inflated wage packets?

I'm not overly confident there'll be much in the way of quality left to build a team around though.

Hopefully I'm wrong!!!

Exactly. I expect plenty of outgoings, most of which will be positive.
