I’m not sure I agree anymore. I did probably 5 years ago. But the club have taken it lying down - and of course not won anything for coming up to 2 decades - and it hasn’t stopped Spurs being a target for this sort of thing. I think Ange has realised that not biting and staying above the belt isn’t going to do anything so he’s started calling out the bullshit. He’s going to be a target no matter how he responds because the club always is.

Plus he knows that he’s out if we lose the final anyway so he’s never going to have to deal with the comeback. If we win the final and he’s still in post then he’s got a European trophy to shove down their throats when they come yapping. Win win for him at this point.

Why suffer the bullshit? It hasn’t changed anything for anyone else.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing, but who was our last manager that wasn't a media target?
Might be Martin Jol? Very hard to slag him off and come out of it looking good.

I was there for the CL final too. Atmosphere was great outside the stadium and felt electric under the South Stand before the game. I have a memory of the sky being absolutely incredible as the sun went down that day, it was beautiful. The less said about the actual match the better unfortunately.

We were in the first 500 people into the stadium and were below the South Stand until shortly before kick off. The atmosphere was off the charts.

It was the last Spurs match my dad watched before he died, 6 weeks later. He may have been an SOB, but he loved the club...probably more than lots of other things, that he should have loved more.

I find it difficult to accept that 70 years of devotion ended with that **** performance in the biggest game the club had ever been involved in. I've never got over that. We'd dreamed our entire lives of that night and...

NOTHING...from anyone involved. There's a hole at this club, right where the heart used to be.

After the penalty I have no memories of the game, I've never watched it back and never want to , most games win or lose there are moments where I can point out highlights, that game , nothing

I have so many mixed memories of that evening. For different reasons. It’s also tinged how I feel about the stadium - probably also because I moved out of London (and the UK) shortly after that. I’d barely missed a home game for a good few years and now I’ve been to 2 games in 5 years. I watch pretty much every match still but I’ve never had a chance to get closure from the final in terms of being at WHL.

Like Alfie I can’t bring myself to watch any of it. I’ve probably seen a replay of the penalty incident a handful of times but have never watched a highlights package, I’m not even sure I’ve read a match report. The whole thing felt surreal before kickoff and now I feel nothing for it. I barely even remember any of the game after the penalty. I remember walking from Seven Sisters full of dreams and everything after the pen went in is just nothing.

Winning the Europa would be a lovely tonic though.

Has anyone actually rewatched the CL final, or even highlights?

I think everyone I know has had zero interest in doing so. It’s something that I think we all just want to erase from memory.

Praying the Europa final is something we’ll want to watch 100x over.

why would you rewatch that game considering
a ) you lost
b ) it was a total bore and the moment the pen went in the game felt over

i doubt many of us reds have bothered watching the full game again and only worth the highlights to see Div scoring again :emoticon-0152-heart

this is what the game is about

we will sort the league out, this is not our norm

Ange will have played his role for our club if we deliver this trophy, he can go with his head held high and we can find ourselves a manager who will bring us the amazing feeling of scraping 5th and making up the numbers in the CL…but that **** can wait and bares no relevance to this journey

just one more hurdle to overcome

The club media team have a lot to answer for the crap that comes our way , old bacon face at man utd didn't put up with it and banned certain journos and pundits , we should also **** off anything to do with Paddy Power and Talkshite while we are at it

Here's the thing: we banned Matthew Norman from the Standard back in 2007, but the press treated us like North Korea for that

Now why does that look suspiciously like there's one rule for one set of clubs, and we're not in that set of clubs...?

For Postecoglou there was clear emotion and delight in his face as he spotted his wife Georgia in the crowd. She had been in among the Spurs fans and players' families while keeping in contact with their two young sons throughout the match.

Postecoglou waved at her and blew kisses. The 59-year-old used to watch big matches like this as a child in the middle of the night with his dad Jim back in Melbourne and now he was going to lead out a team in a European final.

It was the closest we've seen the Australian to getting choked up when he took a moment occasionally as he thought about that after the game.

"There'll be a time when I reflect on all this stuff but I've got friends who I grew up with who are probably booking tickets to Bilbao. For all intents and purposes I’ll be on the touchline but almost with the imposter syndrome that I should be in the stands with them because that's where it comes from. It's my fourth year in European football and I've got the chance to lead a team into a European final," he said.

"That's something I will look back on but I’d rather look back fondly with a positive memory on the day. But yeah, not just my Dad but my family, my wife who was here today cheering on with the away end.

"Credit to her and two boys on a school night who I've promised a trip to Bilbao. There's so many people you know who take the knocks and feel it more than I do. I'm sure they're proud of me tonight but more importantly I'm just pleased I can give it back to them for all their sacrifices."
