We may have nervous energy in our tummies facing Man U in the final but make no mistake they are suffering from acute diarrhoea at the thought of facing us
It’s down to the top four bollocks of the last 15 or so years. Sky, BT and co along with clubs have made such a big deal of finishing inside the top four to play CL football that it’s caused fans to forget what truly matters in football and that’s actual silverware. Last year on TV before a game, Villa fans were asked if they’d rather win the Europa Conference League (they were in the quarters at the time iirc) or finish 4th in the Prem and around 7 of the 10 fans that got asked said they’d rather finish 4th… ****ing unbelievable to be honest. Finishing in a CL place is a nice achievement don’t get me wrong but if you’re actively choosing that over winning any single competitive trophy then you’ve lost your way as a football fan.
Stuff like this is exactly why I cannot bear to listen to them any more. Of course you've seen nothing yet, wait until the final few days in the lead up to the match....
They all say that, but until you've done both you don't know. I've seen Newcastle so both now, and wining a trophy is far better... It's not even in the same stratosphere.
Anyone going to Bilbao then with or without a ticket? Cut off to apply for tickets has passed. My cousin and mate booked their flights a few days ago, they’re flying to Girona and getting a camper to then drive to Bilbao. Pretty confident they’ll get tickets too, just under 15k allocation and they’re about 15k in the pecking order, I doubt everyone in front of them will be applying so I reckon 90% they’ll be at the game the lucky bastards!
Untrue. It went from the "Sky 4" in the mid 90s, until Spurs in 2010 and then the near immediate rise of Citeh, The "Sky 4" era gave those clubs a massive financial boost over that period, that near guaranteed them continuous hegemony. So an outside PL club regularly qualifying for the CL was the only fair just way of breaking their grip on the PL (ironically the PL winnings + TV revenue share is actually very equitable in general) . As a Spurs supporter of : 1. football, I want the CL/EL spectacle so you can regularly have the "glory glory nights" some of us "old hands" had. 2. the club, I want regular CL participation to help fund the building of squads that ensure 2015-16 and 2016-17 are the norm and not the exception.
If not attending, where would the town authorities let visiting supporters go to watch the game on TV (what was done in Madrid in 2019 etc) ?? Outside of WHL, if demand is high could the club try and rent out part of Ally pally etc for the night ??
Are we going to ruin your season or are you going to ruin ours? Or are we going to ruin our season or are you going to ruin yours?
To ruin either of our season's would mean we had something to ruin, we're both looking at this final with the hope of saving them! Losing will just completely compound it as an utter disaster though.
Worth mentioning our league form in 2002 cratered because of the Season Killer Cup final Hoddle started resting players for the final so our league form dipped, and when we (inevitably) lost the malaise set in
Pre-Game Bodo/Glimt defender Jostein Gunderson on Tottenham: “It is not the best team in the world in defence, with all due respect.” Post-Game Jostein Gunderson has said that Cristian Romero told him after Spurs scored their first goal that he shouldn’t talk so much. . Gonna be a shame to lose Romero in the summer but if he leaves having helped us to European silverware, he'd go with my very best wishes and thanks.
Yup, I enjoyed seeing Spurs winning the league cup in 2008 much more than any time I’ve seen the club finish 4th. The first time Spurs qualified for the CL when Crouch scored against City was decent though
