Happy to stand by it. No doubting the lad has talent, but he hasnt used it to effect enough for a player who landed with such expectation. He doesnt need to be playing out of position anymore, yet Regis keeps doing it. I can only judge him on what I have seen for us. Flashes of greatness. Today he lost possession in tight situations or in 1v1. His crossing, barring 1, wasnt good. First half in particular I thought he was poor. If he is the number 10 or 8 I keep hearing about then over to Regis to play him there really. He should know how to get the best out of him. Right now we would be a better side with Watson left wing than Le Fee, imo.
Some harsh assessments on here but probably fair considering the run of form we've been in since that Leeds loss in Feb. 4 league losses all season before that, a total collapse since. If we don't go up, I suspect Jobe will go, we'll probably have offers for Dan Neil and Chris Rigg, who might well want away, personally I would consider trying to freshen things up a bit and maybe try and get moves for Roberts and Patto also. If we do go up, keep them all and add to what we have.
Yep that's where the problems lie, end up having to look abroad and if you can bring in experience and serious quality on loan.
I think Jobe is gone no matter what, mostly cos what he said in his interview at the EFL awards. Basically where I'm playing next season
Respect it but think its woefully off the mark. Stood out massively pre injury and rejoined a team who have in fact been ****e, since his return we've had relegation form. He gets put on the left not because he is incapable of dislodging rigg but because Regis limits the numbers of players he uses, he has form for this at lorient and obviously trusts particularly players, he's doing a job for the gaffer there, he's not playing there because hes not good enough to dislodge rigg.
for me with this buy and sell model weve had the goalkeeper is good way to bring cash in without rocking the boat
I also think Jobe is away next season come what may..... He clearly has a progression plan, and fair play to him... For what its worth, I thiink Rigg, Hume and maybe Dan Neil may well be out the door as well... Footballers come and go...its the way it is
Le Fee is a technically gifted player, but apart from the boro game he's not stood out. Rigg is playing this random false 9, 10 role that doesn't suit him either. He leads the press and seems the only one that understands the role and when to close down. Essentially both are not being played in their proper positions so impossible to judge imo
I'm actually a fan of Patto and think he's been alright this season, but I think the way we play is high risk and all but the very best will get caught out from time to time, that said, he's 24 now I think and can probably bring in £8-10m and we keep things rolling.
Roberts has 2, possibly 3, games to save his SAFC career for me. Same level of production and complete lack of effort as the previous 2 years and he should be the first out the door. No team wanting promotion would accept his level of performances yet he's our only right winger. Mental.
We’re hardly going to sign a new back 5 if we remain in the championship, which looks likely Most of them are fine for this level, especially our full backs
We've been coasting for 6/8 weeks now, and it's been painful to watch. However, I'm an optimist and I'm judging it as a pre season. The top 4 have been miles clear of the rest all season until we decided to concentrate on the play offs ( we did it a little earlier than I would've liked) keep the faith lads, the next 3 are all that matters!!! We definitely need a rw no matter what league we are in. Imo we also need to drop Rigg for Le Fee. This team is miles more dynamic with Mundle in it. Coventry are the last team I wanted us to play, however these lads have turned up for every big game this season. Keep the Faith
Not gonna lie mate, me neither! I'm just judging it on us preparing for the play offs, tbh. When we've actually been at it, we've been up with the best in the league (by a mile) the top 4 have been in a league of their own all season! Cov are the last team I wanted us to play, however if we can keep it tight, I'd fancy us against anyone in this league in a 1 off! Edit Sorry I'm pissed @Hudson92
Don’t have anywhere near as strong as opinion as you on Roberts, I think he’s a pleasure to watch when he’s on it. But he’s been dreadful for a while now. I will say in his defence, it’s a joke he doesn’t have any competition to bring him out and rest. He’s solely relied on to do something on the right side and at this level you will have dips. The January window let us down massively, the club got it badly badly wrong
He also has pretty much nothing to hit when he does get some space. Roberts is frustrating but so is the whole set up, we don't fill the box with runners from midfield
