Kemi was out today gloating that Labour weren't do as well as expected. With a new leader in place and an unpopular Labour Party the official opposition go out and lose 600+ council seats at the local elections, finishing behind Ed ****in' Davey a second time in a row and she goes to Cambridgeshire to gloat about it. The woman is a total ****ing mong.
'Labour are tanking...' Labour are down some 170 Councillors Reform have gained 611 Councillors The Tories have lost 610 Councillors... hmmmm.... ... but it's Labour who are tanking?
Farage suggests Reform will cut DEI jobs and working from home in councils the party controls, saying: "If you work from home, forget it" That's Windy and Luv ****ed then lol
Yeah, BBC posted a graph earlier and it's clear this really isn't the worst night for Labour - especially since they really aren't competing in that many seats. This here is Tory heartland.
I look forward to Durham council taking control of nationwide employment law and private companies’ policies and embrace our new overlords.
OK the first genuine shock for me tonight is Cornwall. Reform largest party, Lib Dems second. No majority. The ENTIRE Tory vote is gone bar 7 seats
I'm not surprised tbh. Despite the postcard image of Cornwall, there are huge areas of deprivation down here. Lack of housing, low wages, loads of people on benefits etc. It's ripe for Reform to sweep up the fears and frustrations of those people. Add to that, the national mood of frustration with Labour and the fact that the Tories are now irrelevant and it was always on the cards. I guess @brb ain't gonna get his wish to send loads of immigrants down here now that Reform have done so well though
I expect several of our new Reform overlords will be found to have done some dodgy surfing at some point.
It will probs get banned for being Transgender or something The main issues down here are poor housing/lack of housing, low wages and high water bills and cost of living. Seeing as we don't have any brown people down here, it's going to be a tough gig for Reform to pin the blame on them for this.
I think Reform might be decent on housing, no? They don't believe in this green belt nonsense, nor this climate jargon and will certainly sign off on mass housing projects with limited oversight. Want a new extension on your house? Few jars down the pub with your local councilor and he'll get that sorted
I noticed that Farage was crying about increased council tax on second homes the other day. He's got a place down here. I know that for a fact because bizarrely he shares a mutual friend with me. I think he's also got a couple of other gaffs around the country One of the big issues down here is 2nd homes, because loads of quaint little fishing villages are just populated by wealthy folk who can afford a holiday home down here, the issue it creates is that it drives up prices, demand is sky high and locals can't get on the housing ladder People are very vocal about it down here. And Cornwall council has recently introduced a 100% increase on 2nd home council tax I wonder if his minions are going to campaign against that tax, because if they do they'll probably end up getting lobbed down a mine shaft
Didn’t the predecessor of Reform run a council when they were badged as UKIP? From memory that council went bankrupt in 6 months
