One of the United Kingdom’s most celebrated and innovative chefs and restaurateurs, Tommy Banks, is heading to Wearside for the 2025-26 season to headline a brand-new slate of premium matchday experiences at the Stadium of Light.

A passionate, lifelong Sunderland AFC supporter, Tommy was the youngest British chef to be awarded a Michelin star – he currently holds two, one each for his acclaimed fine-dining restaurants, The Black Swan at Oldstead and Roots in York.

His award-winning pub, The Abbey Inn Byland, was named Best Sunday Roast in the UK in 2024 and he also holds a coveted Michelin Green Star for efforts with sustainable gastronomy, with most of his menu ingredients grown and reared on his family’s farm in North Yorkshire….

Think I am on something like that and I am just under 40.

I reckon my son will break some record eventually, got him a season card when he was 3. Have to hope he continues the streak when he is an adult himself.

KLD, as one of three directors, slowly but surely building what John Hall tried and failed to do <laugh>

Let's see how long it takes before people are 'smelling rats' and 'feeling uneasy' about new companies being registered at the SOL>

    Nice find!

interesting to see that the club is diversifying.

the women’s World Cup in under ten years will be interesting as well as I think we’ll have a good shout at being a host

If they can get Sheepfolds, St Peters Metro, the approach to the ground and the hospitality right the place can be a vibrant hub for the whole community.

All of this is a virtual blueprint of what the Dell lads were investigating when they were buying the club ...

... KLD has taken on a lot of their ideas regarding those issues, merchandising, ticket office/shop, club badge, etc.

There's one big surprise in store though and it's not the monorail ...

... even though work on that has already started <laugh>

Believe me mate, I'd love to just post it but can't.

I had half the story from one person, a few years back now, and something I've been told recently makes me believe it.

The two people definitely don't know each other personally and don't know I know the other.

I was absolutely battered, when I posted all the stuff about Dell and their plans which are becoming reality one by one, but it would be worse with this.

I've told one person, 'to put a marker down', but that's all.

The trouble is people would pile in, as they did last time, and I wouldn't be able to prove it until it happens ...

... as that could be a couple or more years I'd just get the same shyte as last time.

All I'll say is that it would be exciting, if scary, news tinged with a bit of sadness and nothing to do with on the pitch stuff.
