maybe but what if we had also then dropped points in other league games where had rotated more? It’s all what ifs and no one knows for sure.
Imo Elliott could be a much better player if he just stopped annoying me I am convinced if he played more positively and just took the game by the scruff of its neck and started dictating as a 10 he would be vastly improved. He is too happy to pass it off or knock it back to where it came from at times. As a result sometimes the game passes him by. This is a hard one for your typical young player to do. Jones on the other hand has the exact opposite problem. He was always a cocky little ****. He hogs the ball and won't let it go rather than what Elliott does. I'd love to see Elliott just be really positive on the ball and turn and have his first though it to go forward or pass forward. He gets into this mindset of being in the game because he has a few touches going back. Grab the game. Show your ability. Often as a sub he is better. He has come on and injected urgency and pace and pressing and lifted the whole side. Don't be a coward Harvey. Don't just pass that ball back.
Hes improved on what Klopp did last year. We fell to bits with about ten games to go in the league last year too. Perhaps similar happening this season is because the team is still Klopps team in players and perhaps this is because we've had years of full throttle heavy metal football. Slit by all accounts is big on keeping fitness levels high. Perhaps we just don't have those players here yet. Might be something to think about
Young midfield tjst shouldn't be falling apart but in reality we bought 3 and slot likes those 3 and then Jones is his only trusted back up. The reality of modern football is you want 2 for every position to compete on 4 fronts and if you have it but don't use it then it's down to you.
Diaz does this far more than jones and annoys me. Was one moment he got the ball and shrugged off defender for split second while facing out own half way line and instead of just passing it on, he ran all the way across to the left back position then gave it away
Yeh this. So many times this season he's had me screaming at the TV pass the fuking ball man! Jones used to be bad for it but he seems to be doing this less than before so maybe that is slot noticing the same and telling him to get and give much quicker. Diaz is marvellous to watch when he does 2/3 players but then tries to do another one instead of looking up and passing. Can be frustrating
D'ya know what annoys me, Szoboszlai's back heels. He does at least two every game and they rarely work.
Don't agree with Mito's 6/10... but don't think it can be more than 8/10- I'm going with 8/10 Pre Christmas we were a 9 or 10. There really wasn't much wrong. There were a few shakey performances but overall we looked good and were getting results. I'm not sure what's happened since Christmas but we are very clearly falling apart. We're still going to win the Premier League, and on balance across the whole season, we're the best team... but something is wrong. It could very well be tied to Slot only being able to work with a small squad, other teams just know how to play us now, and our core players look exhausted. We're going to win this league this year, but I'm not optimistic about winning anything next year. I feel like we've been "found-out". The winning mentality from the first half has transformed into an "it's ok to lose" mentality.
As I said medium term fsg amd hughes need to deliver. Slot gets a pass for not using players he doesn't like because he has in the end delivered rather than being dog **** like amorim who is 0/10. But he doesn't get more passes as footbsll doesn't work that way. Get in those players amd show where we are going.
Ah yeah but that's cos you haven't a clue. When are Palmer is about as useful as a wall to bounce a ball off they are letting the gsme go by. There's a couple of reasons why Elliott is not for slot.
One of my main points was that we are risking losing Elliott and Quansah through Slot not playing them and that is not acceptable both are very good players and should be more involved throughout the season. They may not start often but should be used more as we should not be losing talent like those 2 we don't have the resources.
Losing them? Or simply ending up with a poorer player as they've not been developed? In the end lfc have invested in Elliott. Klopp ruined an entire season backing jones and Elliott and not buying. Slot has a right to look at players and say what he wants and Hughes has a right to tell him that is the squad and use it or **** off. Hopefully they work together well now. In the end is Elliott thst good? No. Could he be good? Yes.
Comes down to opinion, I like Jones as a squad player and think both Elliott and Quansah could be important first team players, Quansah in the future Elliott right now. Elliott would have done a better job than Salah in the last game that's for sure.
I wouldn't go that far. Both are full of potential and could become great but if they're not part of the managers plans then we need to cash in. The manager as the final say with anything on field
That's what I don't like though, the manager shouldn't be getting rid of young talent, if it was Diaz at 29 or Jota injury prone then okay but forcing a 22 center back who has come through the academy and looked like he could push for a first team spot only last season out is plain stupid, same goes for Elliott he's also 22 and both could at the very least be strong first team options, we're not a mega bucks club and can't be ignoring talent like this we have enough players that we need to go buy.
Another thing to consider is we let those two go as well as Trent leaving that could potentially be 3 home grown slots that would need to be filled. And Home grown players seem to attract crazy prices like the £100m being touted for Southamptons Dibling.
Has he pushed him out? Are you playing Quansah ahead of Konate and VVd at cb during s title run in when both are fit?
