I know you spent most of your time in youth setups but how does this sort of thing affect dressing room dynamics? I presume that most players know that if they have an elite level player then they will be on more than everyone else but if someone is on money they don't particularly deserve does it cause problems?Something i've often wondered about.

I would be surprised if it doesnt at times. It seems like human nature to an extent.

A good mate of mine is an ex pro. Lower league level, but nevetheless a pro. He told me stories about as an ever present he would see the club bring in young lads from higher up, on better money, but who werent able to contribute from the off, sometimes not ever. He says it was a problem in the dressing room, but never on the pitch.

It happens at non-league level too. I have seen it where new lads come in on decent money and those already there were left behind a bit. I played a bit and got a couple of quid. I knew others were getting a better match bonus, and while it was only pennies really I went and asked for the same. Didnt get it mind, so it left a bitter taste. But again when on the pitch it never entered my mind. I did get offered another club later and a couple extra quid but didnt bother as I liked the coaches where I was. At pro level, where it is your job, it is hard not to move I suspect, in similar circumstances.

Aye just filled it in, not essential really unless someone urgently needs to contact me...which is impossible at the minute.

I often have full bars showing but can't do a single thing.

The quality is just as good too, no need for shirts to be so expensive... especially the kids ones. I get it's all revenue for the club, and I've bought this year's official home and the "limited edition" trackie top that is no longer limited.

Can fully understand why people pay a tenner for a copy.

It's the cost of club shirts across the board though, look at if a different way it's £60 for a product that's an official club product. That's what £8 a month over a season?

I get that those with kids can find it expensive, but they offer the klarna deals to spread the cost, plus have had plenty of discounts this season.

Every penny the merchandise raise helps the playing side, I get that some just can't justify it, but snide knock offs isn't the best way to go

I dont care, the club seem to think the supporters are just a cash cow. How about, they said, our new shirt lasts for 2 seasons? Or we keep the same away shirt?

No, just keep pumping the supporters

Which pretty much every club does as it generates much needed funds.

Strange thing to call the club out on. We have been complaining for years that the club had awful kit deals, now we have a great one and you think it's OK to buy cheap snides from China

I guess it’s all relative, kids will pay hundreds for a pair of trainers and always want designer clothes which can cost parents an arm and a leg to buy, add on top of that mobile phones and computer games/consoles and the cost can sky rocket. I would love to see the club put a promotion on where you purchase a top for kids and they get a concession in the ground or reduced price ticket voucher/same thing for adults. Season ticket holders should be awarded points for purchases at club shops and at bars inside ground etc.
it wouldn’t be any cheaper but maybe some back end benefits to it.
I also had an idea for an end of season draw where one season ticket holder wins the squads weekly wage but they must be in attendance to collect. Just an idea but is things the club could do to help fans out.

Anyone know why I can’t order more than 2 tickets without assigning them two people? 2 of the people wanting tickets don’t go regularly but are up for Easter so wanting to come to he Blackburn game, for a club that never sells our we make it so difficult to get tickets, been on hold to the ticket office for 20mins so they’re no help as per

Cheers and agreed - top notch article. I like how it nearly nails the expectation / impatience of fans due to our more storied history than Brighton/Brentford and the big stadium. We are on a really exciting journey and some fans need to get their heads into the incremental progress. Spending big and crushing the Championship would be enjoyable in the short term but our slow and steady progress is likely to reap greater rewards.

Proofs in the pudding for me, your leicesters, Burnley’s, southamptons all spend big in the championship, problem is they have spent that money and restrict themselves to buy players good enough for the prem
