pressure getting to much for the ref at the Liverpool game not enough on that challenge to warrant Nunez going down in the box and ref awards a penalty what a surprise
Meh, we’ve ****ed about in too many matches and our owners haven’t matched the ambitions of either Forest or Villa so we are where we deserve to be. They have taken more risks, spent wiser, have better managers and will reap the short term rewards. For us, it’s probably timing, we should be ok this time next season and will never have to worry about relegation again!
Villa are going to finish above us along with forest, Brighton, probably Bournemouth, and maybe even Fulham
They always knew they just needed to get the foundations in and negotiate around very difficult anti competition rules.
I think we’ve moved too slow which is a very Saudi thing to do. If you look at the City timeline, notwithstanding the lack of PSR, they had rebuilt training grounds and got big sponsors in far less time. We are still only threatening training ground plans, have pushed the stadium narrative for over a year, are barely signing anyone at any level and have Steady Eddie still in charge. Ultimately it’s great change from Ashley but that’s a ****ing low bar. For me it’s a bit concerning watching teams like Villa, Forest and Brighton move ahead of us.
I don't think we'll see much better than what we're getting unless there's a massive change in the rules, which quite frankly isn't going to happen. I've reached the point where I've accepted the reality of being a top half club that will probably challenge every now and then for at least another decade.
Completely disagree. There’s an awful lot you can do if you’re smart. Forest have more or less a new first XI from as little as 2 years ago. Villa change a lot year on year. We have done a very bad job of evolving.
Forest came within a result of being relegated and like ourselves are simply having a good season. Villa had a takeover years before us, so plenty of work was already done off the pitch. We'll have good and bad seasons, but there's nothing significant possible within the next decade or even beyond for any of the pretenders.
A superior scouting network, a tactically better manager (we are a team that simply does not score enough from set pieces for example), and a few more replacements in key positions would see us in a better position. None of that would take a decade. We need better players in this squad and for that the owners need to spend some money intelligently. Not actual big money on ****e we NEVER play. The decision to use 20m on Vlachodimos who has played ONE league cup game for us is absolute criminal. Then we have the management, our set piece work is league one level at this moment in time. It has been for a concerningly long time and the fact Howe isn't fixing this **** is driving me nuts. We have no dynamism to our play, we go out do the same thing and if it works it works and if it don't it don't. If we do change it up and lose, we **** the bed and go back to same ol same ol until we win enough games to build up Howes confidence and then BAM rince and repeat. The way we implement players into the squad is archaic and poor. How many points have we lost out on because of the staggered return of Tonali. Whilst the man was having MOTM performances for Italy we were playing Longstaff whilst Tonali sat on the bench. There are small changes the club can actually make now that could easily result in us earning 10 - 15 more pts a season and would seriously make a big difference in our final positions in the table, perhaps win us a bit of silverware.
