That is insane, I hope you used something which let you spawn materials...
At first I did it normally and it was taking ****ing forever
. So I switched to the old classic mode, which is seriously limited but lets you click away and build/destroy quicker. When Beta creative mode finally came out (quick mining & unlimited blocks/items) I used MCEdit to export the classic map into Beta format and continued from there. A lot of parts needed editting and fixing up obviously because of the ****ty choice between about 5 different blocks in classic but it didnt take too long to do that. I just continued in the new Creative Mode now which is what I do now.As for the Minecraft for Android thing, it's nothing compared to the PC version at present, although I did see something about them intending to bring it more in-line with the PC one. At present you get a small world, a small selection of blocks and just get to build. No survival mode, no mining or other resource gathering, just block placing and breaking.
apparently it's severely limited...
Sounds like the old Classic mode, probably not worth going for then.
