Salah has an excuse because he's fasting atm but the rest of the forwards looked like they were playing in lead boots. Nunez looked lively but we didn't see enough of him.
I'm curious if there's been any studies on how it impacts performances of athletes.

As said, I've seen far worse than a push in the back being given as attempts to get the ball. A drag back or a trip should be interpreted as non-attempts, but again I cite the Dunk example of a full grapple, never mind drag back, as what can be interpreted as an attempt to get the ball that receives a yellow in the box (and pen) and a red just outside.

There are actually quite a lot of studies. I haven’t read the ones I’ve posted here but best from quick read, fasting can have an impact and it’s up to the athlete to manage their nutrition, sleep etc. to minimise depletion in output.

I think when you then talk about a goal keeper performance it is useful - which was my original point.
pag had 27 shots, but 17 of those were off target so Ali didn’t need to do anything. Of those 27 shots you’d expect psg to score 1-2 goals based on the stats.
Now I’m not saying Ali didn’t have a great game, but how many of the saves are ones we’d expect him to save? Pretty much every shot from outside the box I think he’d have been disappointed if they’d gone in.
the 1v1 is probably only one that would say he saved that if he didn’t couldn’t blame him for.
It’s easy to see the headline psg have 27 shots lfc had 2… but half of those shots were speculative efforts from outside the box. We could have got into those positions and shot as well but you’re only likely to score 1 in 20 of those shots so better to work a better opening.
If you look this season compared to Klopp, we take a lot less shots. But our xg of shots is higher, because we work the ball into better areas rather than having 5 shots with xg of 0.1 each we will have 2 shots with an xg of 0.3.
the first may look like dominating more, but quality of shots is way more important than the number. As proven yesterday.

Tbf the offside was pure luck. The red card was the close call.
To win any competition you need to be lucky tbf.
In any other nights we would probably have preferred the approach PSG took but we were pretty careless with passing and overall decision making which led to the constant pressure in our own half.
If the same liverpool turn up next week like this i would be surprised. Would also start with nunez as he offered something jota struggled with and diaz went off the boil, he was pressing early on and being a menace to psg(first 10-15 minutes).
Credit where its due , PSG were class act in all but their finishing .
Fairly typical of liverpool in seasons gone by where we get sucker punched in a game by the oppo having one credible chance at goal lol

Interesting it mentions sprinting being impacted but general aerobic ability not so much. So that might be more an impact to forwards than defenders.
Without VAR nobody's even questioning the offside. It's still a close call I think.
It can be both if it is deemed the player made no attempt to play the ball. In this case, I think it would have been both.
Keep seeing people suggesting it was a great match, it wasn't. It was an extraordinary and intriguing match (especially come the final whistle) but very one sided which didn't make for a great match.
PSG deserved the win imo and we'd have been extremely grateful for a draw, but we'll obviously take the win.

There is a certain satisfaction in watching your team play poorly yet come away with the win. We would all prefer great football and a great result but if you could only choose one of those - just on last night's game, not as an ongoing thing - I would choose the win.
PSG have some very talented players who are a joy to watch but for all that, they couldn't find a goal. It reminded me of a comment someone said on Bake Off - 'all style, no substance' - meaning the cake looked superb but in the area that it's meant to be good, taste, it failed. If you switch the word 'substance' for 'end product', it's a good analogy.
I agree I wouldn't call it a great match, bur tbf 2nd half in particular had some good defending from us that indeed made it an intriguing game. Often PSG would get to a point where a perfect key pass would set up an easy finish, but they either messed it up or we got in a good block. Even Alissons better saves 2nd half were mostly pot shots.
