It's not really a case of whether you think it's a red or not. It's whether you think it was a foul or not. If it was a foul, then he had to go with him being the last man and denying a goal scoring opportunity.

It was definitely a foul imo, we'd be screaming blue murder if it was the other way around.

True, but that's what I meant. From what I saw, I thought he just looked stronger, there wasn't really enough in it for a foul. For what it's worth, the German commentator thought so too. But I can definitely understand people who think differently, and the decision could easily have gone the other way.

You can’t score if you don’t shoot. So it’s correct that xg was 0 if we hadn’t had any shots.

But we had massive opportunities thst we just ****ed up.

I can count 3 we should have scored so only looking at xg would make you think psg were invincible when in fact they piled on so much any break of the lines meant we could be in.

We were just not good enough nor loomign to do it much

Does it only take shots into account? If so, then it's flawed in that respect - there are plenty of opportunities where the goal is begging but the player fails to get a shot off.
Imo xG is just another thing for people to try and turn football into a video game. It may be of some use to club statisticians, but I learn all I need to know by watching the games.

Like Nozzer i didn't think there was much in the Konate incident but did expect the red card to be waved .

We did very well to come away with any kind of result from that game never mind a clean sheet as well as a win. That was one of the best goalkeeping performances I have ever seen. A lot of good points have been made already. As good as PSG are, they leave a lot of space behind them and we got into those spaces a few times and Mo should have done better. It will be a very interesting return game, they are a top side with a lot of energy and we will have to control the game in a better fashion than last night. We lost the ball so many times in midfield and we need to punish them when we get breaks, and we will get breaks

Totally agree that decision possibly has kept us in the competition. I don't think we would have kept them out if we went down to 10 men.

Yes, the Konate incident. I thought it was more of a nudge than a push personally, but like I say, understand people who think differently.

3 who prefer to play on the left. Diaź who's more than had a go, gakpo who's the preferred option an darwin who's never been given a chance there.

Of all 3 Diaz is the one I'd let go, we'd get more money for him, he's the least effective.

He was mint when we got him, and that season he was injured we really missed him. But in fairness, the last 18 months he has been pants, and last night he simply couldn't control the football. That said, there was not one outfield player - Trent included - who seemed capable of controlling, passing the ball forward, and receiving a pass, especially in that 1st half. Gravy, Macca, and Szobbo were dire in possession, and we shouldn't polish that turd.

For all PSG's total dominance in the game, there were several opportunities and situations for breaks that just collapsed. true, PSG's pressing and winning the ball back was superb, especially in the 1st half, but there were several openings when Macca and Szobbo in possession just simply turned around and ran back into traffic. They'll say that the forwards weren't making runs for the ball, but that's not always true. I saw Szobbo in particular do two pathetic final balls when Diaz was through, and we all saw the Salah garbage pass before he came off.

it was a clear red card. I understood why the ref behind it may have missed it, but VAR shouldn't have. Very like that one on Jota at Spurs a few seasons back when the ref (Tierney) said it was his fault he got knocked over because he slowed down - I said then that was preposterous and I'll say it again to be consistent. Would have been a blessing for it to have been a pen and a booking, but it was outside (fractionally) and was a straight red.

Mate, if it was shoulder-to-shoulder, then yes. But it was shoulder into the middle of the back - he got in front and Ibou fouled him.

yes, that was my thought until I saw the replay, but when I did I thought 'it's just outside - he's off'. I'd have bitten your hand off then for a pen against us and a yellow for ibou - could not believe we got away with no pen and no card at all, never mind red.

The offside goal and the non-red card reminded me of something that I don't think has happened for a good while - more than one close call in a single game going our way.

Hmm, not necessarily. I saw Dunk for Brighton get away with dragging Szobbo down just as he was about to tap the ball into an empty net and they maintained that it was double jeopardy because he was attempting to make a tackle. You can really deny Ibou was attempting to get to the ball.

Yes, unless he is making no attempt to get to the ball i.e. a professional foul.
