The fact that Adkins hasn't selected him to play at all this season, and the fact that he brought in a new left-back (Danny Fox) - proves to me that Dickson just isn't up to this level of football. If he was good enough, he'd be playing. He's not good enough, so he isn't being picked - it's a simple as that.
It doesn't prove anything, about from the fact that we our squad is bigger than 16 players. If we went out and signed five new players in January, suddenly De Ridder and Morgan and Connolly wouldn't be getting into the matchday squad any more - does that make them suddenly not good enough for the Championship?
Fox and Lallana are rightly our first choice left-side pairing (remember, Dickson can also play LM, so it's not just Fox who is keeping him out of the starting line-up), but that doesn't mean Dickson isn't good enough for the Championship. He just has some quality players ahead of him.
You can't say that someone isn't good enough until they've been given a chance.
That isn't really true.. Because harding is good enough i think.. And Yet he doesn't even get on the bench.. Just makes the point that Fox is undroppable.
Talking of Jonathan Forte, what's happened to him? He isn't listed in the first team squad, which even Forecast and Puncheon are (albeit loaned out). Ryan Dickson has a squad number, despite not even getting on the bench all season, but no mention of Forte anywhere on the OS as far as I can see. Does he play for the U21's at all? Has he been abducted by aliens?
I've always liked Dickson over Harding so in my opinion if Harding is good enough for the championship then so is Dickson.Just because he doesn't get a game doesn't mean Nigel doesn't rate him good enough for the championship,it just means that he has 2 other leftbacks who he prefers,Dickson is just unlucky that he has 2 other leftbacks to contend with.
He's still there I think. Came off the bench for them at the weekend, although wasn't in their squad last night - so it's feasible that his loan spell has expired since the weekend. Yet to score for Preston.
What a waste of money that Forte was,yes he did score 2 vital goals against MKD last season but still he is a very average player and we can't go on about him being the saviour all the time.

No one can really say for sure whether Dickson is good enough for the Championship or not as he hasnt played this season. However it is obvious to me that Adkins doesnt particularly rate him as he bought Fox and Harding is now back up. Just in case of an injury to Fox or Harding though Dickson should only go out on loan. He desperately needs first team football. Idealy, someone from the Championship would take him on loan to see how he fares - that would be a completely risk free way of seeing if he is good enough or not.
are people actually going to give Barnard a chance to get match fitness before saying he isnt good enough?
Don't be silly! we couldn't possibly give him a chance! He's not good enough for the championship! it's obvious that he's not because he's played around one half of football in 7 months.If it aint obvious,i am being sarcastic.
You can hardly say that Dickson isn't good enough, when he hasn't even been given a chance yet, and then 2 minutes later have a go at people for saying Barnard isn't good enough despite having hardly kicked a ball.
And Dickson is only 24. He has a long time to improve. I think some people forget that.
but with dickson it's different, as adkins has gone out and bought another LB when it wasn't really needed with other areas more important to buy
