Lots of threads on our need for new strikers etc but Puncheon apart who would we all get shot of in January if we could?
Tommy Forecast Jason Puncheon Ryan Dickson Jonathan Forte All are surplus to requirements and apart from Puncheon, they're simply not good enough for this level of football.
I can't believe I forgot about Forte after slating him so much after the Palace game! Unless we get another wide player in, I think we may need to keep Puncheon.
They will probably go in the summer. If someone wants to pay a January premium for one of our players, chances are it's for someone we want to keep.
I can't help feeling a little bit sorry for Dickson - he more than contributed to our run-in last season and now can't even get on the bench. Forecast won't leave for the simple reason that no-one will want him and he's still got plenty of time left on his FIVE-YEAR CONTRACT. Apparently he's been on loan at Bromley (Conference South) for 3 months and is yet to make an appearance for them. Says it all really
Wikipedia is not up to date. He is their first choice keeper... although they have lost their last seven in a row.
We've got quite a big squad and if Nigel and the Don mean to give youngsters a real chance we will need to make some room, especially with the new subs rules. Can see others leaving sooner rather than later.
Why did we agree to sign Forecast? I know he was part of the Bale deal, but we would have been better off taking just the money! We were stitched up a treat by Tottenham, who were no doubt pleased to see the back of him! I can't believe we offered him a 5 year contract aswell, what a joke!
Dickson hasn't played at this level yet, so I'm not sure how you can say that. I didn't think Hammond would be up to Championship football, but he's proved me wrong. Forte ok, that's a slightly different matter. He's been here before with Scunny and Sheff Utd, and he didn't excell with either, so there is a firm basis there to form an opinion on.
dickson is an excellent footballer. he would have benefited from some time on the pitch in the championship but it hasn't worked out for him so far this year. It's a case of having too many quality LBs. In my opinion he still has more potential than Harding but currently, he is behind both Harding and Fox in the pecking order. In the long run I would rather keep Dickson and get rid of Harding if one had to go.
I agree with most of your post but i believe Dickson is good enough,i personally think he is better than Harding but there ya go.You can't really say he isn't good enough for this level as he hasn't even been given a chance.
I understand this won't be a popular suggestion so slate me down at your own peril, but I'd offload Barney. Don't get me wrong the lad tries his hardest and always has for Saints - and I appreciate that. He played a massive part in our promotion back to the Championship, BUT he's just not good enough for us in my eyes. He seriously lacks in pace and he's not technically gifted enough (unlike Lambo & Lala) for it not to matter. His first touch is a bit iffy too and I'd prefer he was used as a make-weight in a deal for someone like Billy Sharp or Nicky Maynard to bring their price down a bit. That's just my opinion though.
