Clubs should never have ever started paying ridiculous wages, it was always going to come back and bite them on the arses. I remember when the tv money first started rolling in, it was claimed a certain big club could let fans in for free with the amount of revenue flowing in (not suggesting that's practical) - but no, English football at the top, went the greedy route of paying players obscene wages instead. Players these days that are multimillionaires, it's crass. Then City came along with their own model of that greed and played by their own rules, and here we are. So when cut backs start with the supporter experience or much lower paid staff, it just shows how much they've lost the plot in the last three decades. This will not be a popular view btw.
