I'm about to board the Newcastle train from Edinburgh, my Sunderland crest is hidden because I don’t want a two hour conversation from someone who actually knows very little about Sunderland …

… I get enough of that on here <laugh>

Seriously I don’t even want to talk to someone who knows more about the club than me. I think people wear colours to invite conversations which is fair enough I suppose …

… funny how quickly they come off if their team loses <laugh>

Ah now Smug, funny that you should mention trains, NE Mayor here seems to think that Engineering Works that, from previous working experience, will have been planned for at least 12 months, maybe 18 months and are part of a schedule of Engineering Works programme over a number of weekends, should be be postponed for a weekend at a months notice for the Toon.

Utterly deluded and also completely unsurprising.

I'll leave it here for everyone's perusal, candlelight vigils and prayers.

Edit - Should add that I got this from OTR yesterday.

'A region that's passionate about sport' ... unlike all those other regions that couldn't care less.

Perhaps she should ask why the Metro service between Sunderland and Newcastle is so poor on matchdays.

The first to leave, after games, is often over half an hour, the trains are every forty bloody minutes.

Apart from all the Sunderland supporters there's the way fans trying to get to Central Station and the airport ...

... it's an absolute shambles Mrs North East Mayor.

Written by a stupidly arrogant, entitled cow, so it seems :emoticon-0136-giggl

She knows, fine well, nothing will happen.

It's just shameless arse licking like the MP Chi Onwurah asking the House of Commons why Mike Ashley wasn't spending more money ...

... meanwhile both of their big gobs are firmly closed about Gays being stoned to death by the club's owners.

A couple of points.
1 - I'm going to London later that week for a few days and coming back on the Saturday after the league cup final and knew about this for ages when I booked my train tickets. Surely that lot can plan ahead enough to make alternative travel arrangements on the train?
2- Don't they have an airport they keep going on about? Or does it only fly to Spain?
3- Isn't better train connections to London and the Midlands good for the north east economy in the long run?

4 - When London to Edinburgh direct trains can stop at places like Northallerton and Alnmouth why can't they stop at Sunderland?

All valid points well made.
None of them will register with her and their self entitled, deluded mindset.

North East economy doesn't necessarily need better train connections. The Saudi takeover will be great because it '' will bring investment to Newcastle and the region'' Yeah, they kept that promise didn't they

To be honest mate it sums up the north east and what goes wrong with stuff up here. Things are far too Newcastle centric, the media and various politicians pander to Newcastle (the city and the football club), which feeds into this attitude of Geordie/mag superiority and entitlement and gives them an oven inflated sense of importance and entitlement. That means when things don't go their way you get the mock funerals/shop shouting and jealousy towards other areas/teams that get or have something that Newcastle or NUFC don't, because to them they are the most important thing (city or football team) in the whole of the North East. It has to be true because, you see, the media and local (and some national) politicians have said so.

A mate of mine who is a Geordie mag (but a sensible one) always said that Sid James' was extended purely because they couldn't accept us having a bigger ground and all the good press the SOL got when it first opened, so they had to top it in some way. You see it when there's an event in Newcastle which gets hyped up out of all proportion, like the the way Look North were going on about the MOBO awards on Thursday or that "Great Exhibition of the North" a few years back, and when they flop they either lash out and blame someone (e.g. Tony Blair when they weren't European city of culture instead of Liverpool in 2008, various owners of the football club when they don't win something) or never mention it again (The Love Parade, Exhibition of the North). As an example, a mate of mine worked in the jobcentre in Newcastle a few years back and told me the story of this customer who wanted to start his own business, the "Whey Aye Guy". Basically, he'd hire himself out as a chauffeur/tour guide to visitors, showing them the sites of Newcastle and giving a commentary on the sites. The fact that you can see most of the sites, like the castle, St Nicks cathedral, Tyne bridge and Dean street in about a 20-30 minute walk round the city centre means it's a bit pointless being driven round the city centre. Part of his business plan talked about Newcastle's cultural and international importance. That idea might work in somewhere like London or Edinburgh, but not in a basically provincial English city where most of the interesting stuff is crammed into a small walking distance area. But it goes to show what an over inflated idea of themselves some Geordies have and how it feeds into support for the mags. All this from McGuiness just reinforces it, just to try and keep them inside for votes. It's highly unlikely she'd be doing the same if it was us, but then again most of us non mag fans don't need our bellys tickled and to be told how important and special we are, unlike that lot.

This loopy weirdo is sadly typical of the worst of the Mags. Continually moaning that 'the PL cartel' and PSR are stopping Newcastle from spending their way to success. This video* is typical of how totally they've been brainwashed ...

... happy to pay £86 for a shirt with 'cup final' printed on it but calling fellow supporters, with corporate boxes, mental cases.
