Indian PM Narendra Modi currently visiting Trump at the White House...it seems Trump calls and everyone jumps the amount of visits he's had.
He can come over as a clown when speaking to the public (kind of suits American intelligence) but is obviously a very good statesman when in negotiations with other leaders.

Seriously dude? - Ronald McDonald could come across as a 'very good statesman' if he was heading up the most powerful country in the world ... but both are still ****ing clowns <doh>

They'll all think he's a cock end but it's easier to placate the guy for 4 years than have massive drama with the US for 4 years.

He's all bluster and posture - nothing has changed since the 3 Vietnam draft excuses... talks a good fight... ****s himself when it come downs to it ... despicable waste of oxygen ... and hair spray...

I'd say that's not far from the truth, lots of world leaders knowing as you say, he's only in power for four years so why not placate him.

Another way I look at it, is if he shuts Putin up for four years it's four years he's nearer his grave. In the meantime the EU can rebuild it's defences (yes, I know Putin can to) - but I do feel Trump is right, countries have been taking the piss over their defence spending, if Poland can manage it so can we.

Let's not forget the Tories came in for as lot of stick over their defence spending when they were in power, so again it's narratives that are not far from the truth. We've been happy enough to chuck money down the drain on killing people, money that then has to be spent replacing buildings and peoples arms and legs or burying the dead...

Before Trump came to power:

Some analysts have questioned whether even a rise in defence spending to 2.5% of GDP will be sufficient to combat the rising threats facing the UK. For example, Olivia O’Sullivan, director of the UK in the world programme at Chatham House, contends that to confront Russia and play a leading role in NATO the UK may need to consider moving closer to states like Poland which spend over 3% on defence. She argues that 2.5% is “likely to only fill existing gaps for the current defence equipment plan” (the Ministry of Defence’s 10-year spending plan for equipment and support).

... like he wouldn't have gone if Biden or a Chimp as POTUS had called? ...

That's true, but I could also argue Biden had 3 years to pick up the phone to Putin and stop this madness, why didn't he? You was quick enough in condemning Israel over Palestinians, yet here we are with around a million dead over a poxy war we should never have got involved in, and I'd argue that by supplying Ukraine with the means we created more death. Like most atrocities we've contributed to.

Musk is more dangerous than Donny Draftdodge ... Musk would likely have got 3 GCSE's, Home Economics, Media Studies and Drama ... Donny might just have spelled his name right on the papers....

Fair points - but we also needed a 'boogieman' ... and Putin is just that ... and what 'we've' done by the support we've (and others) have given to Ukraine has indirectly emasculated any Russian threat to NATO for a generation ... indeed, if NATO countries launched a combined assault on Russia right now, other than him launching nuclear Armageddon ... Putin would be completely ****ed ... and he knows it ..

Yeah I've got no problem with Putin being ****ed tbph. I think a four year break would be good for all of us. We need to become less reliant on the US as well, and actually start chipping in the sort of money that will make Putin think before he ever attempts this **** again.

He's had the proverbial 'Dad advice' .... 'son, if somebody tries to bully you, punch them in the face' ... a bloody nose... but that won't stop him trying to recruit bigger kids ...

We don't have any money because we send too much to other countries to help them with their "green" agendas

Honestly, as long as a decent chunk is directed towards technology and development, I'm all for increased spending as I don't see that as wasted money. As ironic as it is, military can be a driving force for technology and advancement.

US spends too much, but UK could probably benefit from more, if spent wisely, not just filling boots.

... well there is £37 billion sitting somewhere - that the Tories lost to track and trace ... 'green agendas' are a drop in the Ocean compared to that ****...

Yeah this.

He's a thin skinned ego maniac.

They'll know how to play him to keep him onside.

Putin does.
