I'd say that's not far from the truth, lots of world leaders knowing as you say, he's only in power for four years so why not placate him. Another way I look at it, is if he shuts Putin up for four years it's four years he's nearer his grave. In the meantime the EU can rebuild it's defences (yes, I know Putin can to) - but I do feel Trump is right, countries have been taking the piss over their defence spending, if Poland can manage it so can we. You was quick enough in condemning Israel over Palestinians, yet here we are with around a million dead over a poxy war we should never have got involved in, and I'd argue that by supplying Ukraine with the means we created more death. Honestly, as long as a decent chunk is directed towards technology and development, I'm all for increased spending as I don't see that as wasted money. As ironic as it is, military can be a driving force for technology and advancement. US spends too much, but UK could probably benefit from more, if spent wisely, not just filling boots.
