I know you're just on the wind up, but one is a single party dictatorship that regularly removes protestors; they disappear and are never heard of again. Both have far too much censorship.of the press and lack of free speech, but only one bans criticism of the government. You're not going to get arrested for using the Internet online to say Starmer is a twat.

As for having data on me... Id probably rather China have data on me than the UK government. I'm a British citizen, I'm not a Chinese citizen. It's probably more dangerous for British government to have data on me than China. I'm not threat to China and I don't live there so I'm not concern of theirs even if I think their government are twats and their president has too much of an obsession with honey.

Due to reasons I won't go into here... The British government already has way too much information on me specifically though.

I can only talk about from my perspective, not anyone else, and as I generally obey the law, I fear no more from Russia or China than I would from the British government. Would I go and spend time in those two countries, certainly. I don't really care about whether I can call Starmer a twat or not, if he was I would, but I don't think he is. Would Starmer have you arrested for things said on the internet, probably. Trump wants to be a dictator.

Oh, I would visit China or Russia (in times of peace) and I agree Trump wants to be a dictator. I wouldnt be surprised if calling Trump a twat will be arrestable.for treason within four years... So I'm just going to keep calling him a twat now while I still can.

Andrew Gwynne sacked by Keir Starmer...

A Labour minister has been sacked and suspended from the party after messages were exposed in which he said he hoped a pensioner who did not support him would die before the next set of elections.

Andrew Gwynne, who was a health minister, was also accused of writing a series of other messages containing racist and sexist comments. They included apparent antisemitic remarks and demeaning comments about Angela Rayner, the deputy prime minister.

Gwynne, 50, is alleged to have made the comments in a WhatsApp messaging group with other local party figures.

Keir Starmer sacked Gwynne on Saturday after his party was presented with the messages by the Mail on Sunday.

Good to see Keir dealing with it straightaway.

Yeah glad he’s dealt with it quickly but it still shows that the antisemitism in the Labour Party has never gone away. It’s only suppressed for the time being.

I can't be arsed to read up on the twat, but I get the impression some of the comments were shocking he made it private. It just goes to show with that old argument, you don't have to be right wing to be an utter dickhead - people have no idea of anyones views until stuff like this comes out.

Yup, you get these arseholes in all walks of life, doesn't need a left or right wing tag attached to them. They are just arseholes.

Like you say, Starmer has done the right thing by booting him out, that's all he can do really nip it in the bud when it comes to light.

I’d have denied there was a case to answer and let it build and build for a couple of weeks until I had no choice but sack him and then scream “look over there” at the press who would duly comply or roll out some policy like banning zombie knives for the 28th time to get it moved to page eight.

    Well done, Labour <applause>

Now we just need to make sure all these people are deported and not released as long as they promise to stay monitored. Need tougher action on that but this is a big step forward and good to read.

Hundreds of migrants have been arrested since the start of this year as part of a UK-wide crackdown on illegal working, the government has said.

Enforcement teams raided 828 premises including nail bars, car washes, and restaurants and made 609 arrests - a 73% increase from January 2024 and the highest figure for any January on record.

Officials say many migrants are drawn in by false promises about their ability to live and work in the UK, which leads them to "risk their lives by crossing the Channel".

It comes as the government's immigration bill is set to be debated by MPs on Monday. Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp has called it a "weak bill that won't stop the boats".

A significant proportion of last month's raids took place at restaurants, takeaways and cafes, the Home Office said.

It also gave examples of arrests made in vape shops in Cheshire and a grocery warehouse in south London.

Those arrested made the journey to the UK through a mix of routes, including by crossing the Channel and by overstaying legitimately-granted visas.

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said the government was boosting enforcement to "record levels" and that immigration rules "must be respected".

"For far too long, employers have been able to take on and exploit illegal migrants and too many people have been able to arrive and work illegally with no enforcement action ever taken," she said.

"Not only does this create a dangerous draw for people to risk their lives by crossing the Channel in a small boat, but it results in the abuse of vulnerable people, the immigration system and our economy."

From the start of the Labour government in July up to 31 January, 3,930 arrests were made over 5,424 visits by immigration enforcement officers.

A total of 1,090 civil penalty notices were also issued, with employers facing a fine of up to £60,000 per worker if found liable.

During the same period, four of the "biggest return flights in the UK's history" were also carried out, the Home Office said, returning more than 800 people.

But Reform UK leader Nigel Farage described the new figures released by the government as feeble, compared with the numbers that had entered the country.

Across the 31 days of January, there were 1,098 people who arrived in the UK illegally on small boats.

The government said it launched a social media campaign in Vietnam in December and Albania in January discouraging people from making the journey to the UK.

The adverts highlight stories from migrants who entered the UK illegally "only to face debt, exploitation and a life far from what they were promised", the Home Office said.

It comes as the government's Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Bill is set to be debated in the House of Commons in its second reading.

The bill aims to introduce a raft of new offences and counter terrororism-style powers to clamp down on people smugglers bringing migrants across the Channel.

But Labour ministers have not provided a specific target on when a drop in small boat crossings could be expected.

The Conservatives said they had put forward an amendment to the immigration bill in a bid to include their own immigration proposals: to double how long it takes migrants to get indefinite leave to remain and, after that, require them to wait five years rather than one before they can apply for citizenship.

Philp added that "an effective removals deterrent is needed" to stop small boat crossings, something he said Labour had scrapped, a reference to the former government's plan to send illegal migrants to Rwanda.

It's really important that Labour tackle this, otherwise it leaves the door open to people like Reform, who imo would be faced with the same set of challenges and would be even less equipped to deal with it, and the wider issues of governing the economy, health, education, public services etc.

This is the biggest problem for me. The cover up to maintain a voter base.

    Vile, shameful and disgusting.

That’s fine and I agree with it but you are a Lib Dem supporter so why don’t you comment on the posts about Labour covering up the grooming gangs or Labour MP’s under the spotlight for their antisemitism? Or even their rise on taxes and NI which directly affects you as a small business owner?

It is important but Labour could do everything on illegal migration and it wouldn’t be enough for their critics. If every single brown person was deported they’d turn on Eastern Europeans again or something. By all means be better on migration than what came before but really can’t see them winning voters from Reform because of that. Improvements to the NHS, schools or whatever yeah.
