I actually lived in South Oxhey as a kid, and went to Hampden Secondary Mod School, the toughest school in the roughest council estate in Hertfordshire, it was useful from mid-teens to late twenties tho because in those days if anyone knew you were from South Oxhey and went to Hampden, no-one ever bothered you Before South Oxhey we were in Burnt Oak near Edgware but my dad got a promotion to Watford and we got moved to the POSH part of South Oxhey when I was about nine years old The thing about South Oxhey then was although we were all in separate gangs depending where we lived if there was an outside threat all the gangs united, your enemy is my enemy, which was where the overall reputation came from, the police never ever patrolled on their own either always safety in numbers
