We won a football match....the win will be safety, that will be the win. We aren't in 7th place aiming for the Play Offs, which might have prompted thats Kloppesque celebration, we're in a scrap. Last week and all the hyperbole in between meant **** all at about ten to 5 today.

I don’t mind celebrating a win , but what’s up with the old fashioned team come over and applaud with the fans singing a few songs …. It’s this modern ; hand waving thing and crowd going . Ooohhhhhhhhhhhhh , then the hand raising and orchestrated cheering , cringiest thing to infect the modern game in years , hate it with a passion , it’s probably got some **** name some YouTube nonce made up too that dinosaurs like me don’t know

Yes it didn’t mean a lot at 10 to 5 today but we all enjoyed the moment last week and why shouldn’t we have??? Especially when as a City fan there haven’t been many moments like that to enjoy this season. Last Friday night was fantastic and after seeing us lose so many matches at BL over the years, I loved every second…knowing that we’d probably mess it up this week at home to Stoke and the normal post match feeling of frustration would return!

Like every City supporter AP we all celebrated and the some. BUT, the point still stands, it was an important 3 points against a long standing rival but it assured us nothing. You would hope that the senior professionals in the squad would say exactly that. But today we let ourselves down and undid all the great work of last Friday. I suspect/maybe part of Robbins team talk was they were celebrating like they were safe. Lets show them they're not.

It's the away games that'll save us

Like every City supporter AP we all celebrated and the some. BUT, the point still stands, it was an important 3 points against a long standing rival but it assured us nothing. You would hope that the senior professionals in the squad would say exactly that. But today we let ourselves down and undid all the great work of last Friday. I suspect/maybe part of Robbins team talk was they were celebrating like they were safe. Lets show them they're not.

I bet Robbins couldnt believe the change in our starting 11. I'm hoping that Crooks was a l'ooking after his hamstring', because he's the presence we dont have.

Crooks did'nt look fit should not have come on, Kamara playing well and taken off, Puerta not getting on. Strange decisions.

I’m looking for reasons to be optimistic by comparing our situation to that of clubs last season.

QPR were 23rd last season when Cifuentes became head coach on October 30th and they finished 18th. However, they went on three separate three-game winning streaks under Cifuentes.

Wednesday were rock bottom when Röhl took over on October 13th and they finished 20th. They had a four-game winning streak around February-March and also won their last three games of the season which kept them up.

City under Sellés have yet to win games back-to-back, let alone three or four on the bounce. This isn’t a criticism of Sellés either but we absolutely need to put a consistent run of form together and start putting some distance between us and the bottom three. We seem to win then lose, win then lose etc. which is certainly better than the back-to-back losses under Walter and during Dawson’s brief interim period but it can’t be great for confidence. Winning a few games on the bounce, including at home, would do wonders.

Typical city isnt it, to the point im not even surprised. Relying on our home games is a dangerous game, anyone remember the season we went down under Bruce?
I remember we all (even Bruce) worked out we needed X wins in X games, 5 games later we still needed X wins in less games. One of the home games was against Burnley, they were as good as down. By the time we played them they was gone....they thumped us and we followed them down.

one point i thought was strange, why did we swap a rb for a rb when we was 2-1 down

The home form is beyond a joke now. The routine way that these games play out is quite ridiculous. It always seems that our best spell is in the first half - but we don't get the goals that our play suggests we should. And if we're honest, it's often a chance creation issue as much as it is a finishing one. Time after time we get the ball into good positions but fail to get a shot off whether because of a poor touch, poor decision or poor pass. This has been a problem for years now. At Sheff United we had far fewer of those positions but we made the most of them and scored three goals.

Sometimes at home against poor teams it seems like we're a bit cocky almost. The first half hour today, I think we'll all agree we were playing well, but there was an undeserved arrogance about it. Matazo was emblematic of it with his little cocky touches and then passing it miles away from anyone and off the pitch in the corner. Meanwhile we were totally on top but not testing Johansson at all. We have lots of attacks and you think yeah this is going well, we're pushing. But when you sum up the actual meaningful shots at goal it's next to nothing. And that control of the game is never going to last forever whilst we let them stay in the game. I think it's an easy mindset to drift into. I allowed myself to think we were comfortable even though I've seen it backfire so many times before, and in hindsight I can see we never should've been feeling comfortable. When you see scorelines like Leeds or Forest today it's hard to imagine a home team putting an opponent to the sword like that because it's so completely alien to us these days; no matter how poor our opponents are we always seem to lower our guard just enough as soon as we seem to be on top.

I think there was a lot of sloppiness today across the team. Quite a few times we won the ball with a good challenge but then lost the next 50/50 immediately after, or gave the ball away with a poor touch straight after. Jacob is usually solid but had some really sloppy moments at the start of the second half. Drameh was awful at times although the goal saving block was very good. Most of them made sloppy mistakes at times to be honest.

The leaving early thing is not a Hull thing, I’ve left loads of away games early when we’ve been 3 goals down and There’s always hundreds of home fans outside already even though they are winning , I went to Leeds this year and left a few mins early and there were more Leeds fans outside then city , don’t know why people make out it’s a city issue .

Slater is good at driving the ball forward but when he gets into a dangerous area, he doesn’t see the players making runs to pass to. He’s also missed so many sitters this season it’s like he’s going for a record.

Matazo is also good at driving the ball forward but seems to have better vision for a pass. I agree that moving forward the two number 8s needs to be Matazo and Puerta/Crooks with Slater as a squad player.

Obviously you joke, but this is what the Donny game should've been. And the Sheff Wednesday league cup game. And the Donny cup game last season. And the Birmingham cup game last season. Obviously these sides aren't as weak as Bev Town, but the same principle is there that it should be an opportunity to restore some morale with a more pleasant home win against inferior opposition. But it never is these days.

We haven’t lost two in a row since Sellés has taken over, which, in my opinion, is why we’re still in it. As soon as that changes I think we could fall behind the teams around us. Our next three games are against teams in the top 8 and our priority needs to be making sure we don’t lose more than one of those games. One of those three games ideally needs to be a win too, otherwise we’ll be back in the bottom three and that won’t be good for mentality or the home crowd.

some thoughts in no particular order

1 - must be the worst pitch in the league - passes along the floor bobble and bounce - no wonder ball control looks poor and that's for both teams

2. ref today was poor - I'm all for letting play go on but a few pull backs should have had bookings which would have affected how some players acted afterwards

3 our fullbacks are woeful - too many mistakes, too many poor passes and poor crosses - we have three poor full back - we loaned Giles out and we drop interest in Taylor - hopefully we get someone in the next couple of days because Drameh. Coyle and Jacob, are gifts that keep on giving

4 we don't have a captain or at least a leader on the pitch - can't anyone step up to the plate because as soon as we concede there's nothing - in fact there's nothing most of the match

5 hopefully our new signings will see us stay up - some of our football was encouraging today - we look a lot more likely to score now

6 flat home support - been so long we've had anything to shout about I think most people have forgotten - compare away support which gets a few complements from the home fans

7. got my ticket for Burnley even though there's hardly anywhere that allows away fans in for a beer other than the cricket club and a club around the corner if you can't be identified as coming from the other side of the Pennines - I usually stick a sixth finger on each hand so I get in straight away

What I don't understand is why our fullbacks play so narrow allowing the oppositions wide players yards of space in which to play in.

Matazo dropped off a cliff after half an hour or so, wonder if it's a fitness issue.

It's the away games that'll save us

Let’s hope so because if we start to slip up then at the moment the home form won’t. That’s the big concern and why we have to sort this home form out. Plus the fact when thousands go to the home games every week and hardly see a win then it’s pretty disheartening. We really do need to sort it.
