I meant if we were in the prem. anyone who comes in this window will defo only be an obligation upon promotion so if we don’t go up we won’t have the issue of them being here
Mayenda, Abdellahi, Ogunsuyi and (for argument) Geubbels. Doubt Trey stays around if he’s not in the first team mix - even if he’d just be a bench option. Mind, one thing I’ve been wondering about the potential for a minutes crunch wide left is whether they may see Watson developing to play centrally. Not a line leader, but a forward in the Luis Diaz / Cody Gakpo mould. Miles off, but may be something that could work.
Isidor, Mayenda, Abdullhai and the new lad. For premier league I think you’d need that tbh. Arguably look at a loan for Abdullhai and bring a more established CF in.
predominately play with one striker, we’ve got two so for me I think bringing a third in looks good on paper, you’ve got to ask what sort of game time are they going to have? If they’re an improvement on what we’ve got then happy days, go for it. But behind Roberts who clearly hasnt been performing as well as we would of hoped is a bigger hole to fill for me at the moment.
I’m more talking about what it means for Isidor in the summer (and tbf if we also don’t go up). Lots of hypotheticals but I think signing a permanent striker this January would mean that signing Isidor might be dependent on promotion. Think Mayenda, Abdellahi and Ogunsuyi would all want (and warrant) champ involvement next season. That would make it very tough to accommodate Wilson too.
We only have 1 of those playing. The rest will be under 21. We need someone else who can lead the line. The run in is too important to just think about under 19 development players.
Can't see us not taking him if the option is only €4m. Even just a quick sale would get us more for a good championship forward.
Is Ogunsuyi gonna stay at championship Sunderland just to be loaned out to lower leagues? Or will he just figure that he might as well push for that Liverpool move to do the same thing? At least that way he’s already got his foot in the door at an elite club.
Maybe. But he isn't ready to lead the line here yet. We must consider the here and now and not just succession planning.
