Well it's obvious why you want to brring this bullshite up it's to cover for your hypocrisy, because this is what you do. Like the way you use to play HiaG...

As for catching those that fall through the net of our pensioners, but it didn't happen, the claiming period for the WFP has passed, they slipped through the net. They should have left it for the first year, to ensure people didn't fall through the net.

It don't even bother me that greatly, I'm just fed up with the bullshite from people like you and me sitting silent about it.

yeah I agree, it’s my generation who’ll benefit from that. Unless we have to pay for care homes out of their property money.

Was just making the point that their generation did quite well out of the right to buy and the wages to house price ratio.

Not sure what it is now? Something like 4 times the average wage ? I know we have a housing shortage too and supply and demand pushes prices up. But home ownership is a pipe dream for a lot of young families these days.

You also need to place things into context.

My grandparents and parents were far more money conscious than the parents of today and I include myself in that. Today’s parents spend money they haven’t got to give their kids the last fashion accessories, the best games, nicer holidays to keep up with everyone on social media.

They won’t pass clothes down like they used too (This would save a lot of money). They’ve become accustomed to phoning in a delivery because it’s easier than going into the kitchen to cook a meal.
They won’t make do with a 32” TV if that’s where the budget is at, so they’ll get the big one on finance.
Same with cars. They’ll not want to be seen in a little banger because it will ruin their street cred so they’ll get one on finance which cuts into their wages big time.

People aren’t fiscally responsible the way that they used to be.

Yeah agree with that. We also live in a society where instant consumer gratification is the norm.

People are encouraged to get into debt to pay for what they want now, instead of saving up for it.

Well I have to agree with brb in that, for people who tend to be left leaning...they care deeply about a certain issue, or a certain demographic or a certain person....until it doesnt suit their political agenda anymore, then it gets binned faster than a week old sandwich.
The modern left and their 180's!

Anyway I got a headache now and need food, but thanks mate.

Just got fed up with people slagging of our pensioners...and that's even harder to take when you know it's left leaning people doing it. I just hope Keir improves stuff otherwise when the next election comes around, it's going to be a bloodbath lol.

Dunno why you keep bringing hiag into this. Bloke has been dead for 4 years. Seems a bit crass to be trying to score points using him tbh

As for those pensioners who fell through the net, that’s why I said more should be done. They should have at least extended the deadline for Pension credit applications and probably put a lot more resources into supporting people to make those claims.

I don’t know when those applications open again, but it wouldn’t seem like an insurmountable option to open them up again sooner rather than later. Or make special provision for people who find themselves unable to pay their heating bills.

From what I'm seeing there's a generation now in their mid 20's who can afford a house but choose not to as they don't want a starter home they want it all in one go so they stay at home. I know I moan about my oldest but he's no problem really but from his group of friends of about 15 only one has bought a house and he bought a terraced property with his girlfriend for under £100.000 there are options.

    100k? Fkn hell.

What I call a starter home up here, would be a 2 bed in not the best area. Probably needing updating. You’d get it for anywhere between 55k and 75k.
