I have read suggestions that the plan may be that Abankwah has been brought in to enable the club to sell Porteous (who is one of the higher wage earners at Watford). The money from his sale could then be used to sign a central midfielder such as Kyprianou. That would seem to be a smart move, but we shall see what happens.
