Yes, although our form has improved, the teams around us continue to pick up points as well. Over the last ten games our form is still relegation level; over the last 5 and 6 we’re looking more mid table. However, as you point out that doesn’t necessarily mean that we will quickly pull away from danger. Other teams games in hand will drag us downwards - 2 draws last night - and we had quite a points deficit to catch up when we were bottom.

If we get to safety, the maths of the situation is that that will take quite a lot of games. We aren’t going to be able to relax at all for the rest of this season (apart from hopefully the final handful of games).

The good thing is since the Swansea game (which is probably the game that Selles really got his feet under the table) we are averaging 1.4 points per game. That should be enough with 20 games left at that rate. We would end up on about 51 points.

All hypothetical of course but I think 48/49 is probably the benchmark this year

Win on saturday and you could say millwall are sucked into the relegation battle too

I believe they have just one 1 win in the last 8 games. 6 points out of the last 24 available.
Like us, had some difficult games in there, but recently got beat at home by Oxford.
Hopefully for once it isn't the script we seem to be too familiar with ....

I think we will need to pick up our form considerably - someone else said 1.4 points per game, two wins and a draw every five games, that sounds about right and will get us to approx 50 points by the end of April. That will put us in a place where the final game of the season against Portsmouth is a straight relegation shootout.

The good thing as well is after the Sunderland game pretty much every game is against someone in the bottom half. Our home games are also all against teams in and around us. It’s in our hands to get it right

We were 22nd when Walter was sacked, but bottom when Selles took over.
And the cone man is still here ffs

very unsporting of those teams isn’t it ernie
The ****s them

That’s a real new manager bounce right there
With inferior players to ours
Are they though? genuine question, i was Walters biggest critic and im glad hes gone, never liked his personality from the start
but starting to wonder if he was as useless as i thought, many of our players are just garbage as i think the Donny game showed. I dont now why we keep thinking we have good players in all fairness.

We’ve been very unfortunate with injuries in fairness. This squad looks a bit better even if you have a couple of them back like Hughes, Palmer and one of the wingers

i agree with that, but i dont even think Millar and Belloumi are as good as made out, they were best of a bad bunch but no world beaters. IMO

Yeah I think they've both become miles better in their absence than while they played. Belloumi only had two goals for the season, both against Cardiff, it's not as if he was scoring every other week.

Belloumi was a genuine threat. Even with him alone I feel like we’d be a bit clearer of this mess
we would be slightly better off as he was the best available , but i just dont remember feeling the season ending devestation i did when i found out Delap was going to be out for a few months last season , its possible i had just already stopped caring about this season by that point to be fair...<laugh>

I get that. Maybe that it didn’t feel like at the time the season would turn out the way it has. Looking back his injury has been a huge loss
