Tuesday 14th of January we are away to Nottingham Forest. Forest the only team that beat us in the league this season. This is a top game. Forest level on point with Arsenal on 40 points, we cannot afford not to take them seriously. Current position in the league: 1. Liverpool 46 points Goal difference 28 3.Nottingham Forest 40 points Goal difference 10. If we can keep a clean sheet I believe we can win this game, but it's not going to be easy. It's a title decider I'd be very happy with a draw and move in but really there's little excuse not to be winning. Alisson trent konate vvd Robertson Gravenberch Macallister Salah Szoboszlai gakpo Diaz Jota to come on for Diaz. Bench from: kelleher. Bradley, quansah, tsimikas, Endo, Jones, Elliott, Jota, nunez With others like jaros, danns, chiesa, morton, mcconnell missing out totally. The reality is that bar gomez being out for another 2 weeks or so we have a fully fit squad. You couldn't ask for more to pick up on the new year and put your foot down to set up a run in. This is must win. The squad is there, the reason to win is there, we just have to really go for it.
As always with these games taking the first good chance thet comes will make it much easier. Many of these games we regret can be summed up by if only we just put that one away it'd all be different. It's quite rare we have a scenario at lfc that a side is just bloody better as we are very fortunate to have such a side to support. Forest are not better than lfc if lfc play well. That's just a fact. Forest can be well organised, solid and break well. They can exploit our weaknesses especially the obvious ones but being better? No. We will probably dominate possession if we play well and will make chances. It about delivering that performance as it was missing v utd and spurs. They've had their few days rest now so show what you are capable of now. If they don't then you have to assess it then as 3 bad performances in a row by the first team players. Let hope we will give a really good performance.
No excuse not to be winning? They're deservedly near the top of the league and playing at home. It's certainly not a banker for any team.
We are still good. And they also lost to city in the middle of their worst run in years. As I said in first sentences I'd happily take a draw and move on. But in the end either you believe they are really good and a massive danger or you think hmmm remember us kicking 7 shades out of leicester who were up there in 2019/20 and laying down a marker. It depends which you believe for former or later. It's not about being entitled to it. Its about what our team can do with a top performance. If we give forest respect they deserve then they should get the level of performance we would give v city or arsenal. Show the league you mean business after utd.
Remember what's at stake 1st v joint 2nd. After 20 games forest have scored 29 and conceded 19 so it's fairly obvious they can defend just as well as anyone but they have scored less than anyone in the top half. They are effective so we have to take thst first good chance and not dick about.
Yep, I want to see a spurs like performance from us here (the prem game obviously). Chance to put great distance between us. Also Arsenal have 2 very tricky games and are looking pretty much out of ideas.
Sound like gomez could be a while longer Sounds more than 2 weeks but slot uses the not in training line well. Once he says that he acts like he doesn't know anything so the media don't ask how long. One thing with all of our muscle injuries is we seem to be taking a lot longer in recovery this season so it could be a policy shift to not rush these. Still getting them mind. Trent, Gomez, tsimikas, Bradley all hamstrings. Jota ribs. Chiesa being a light wieght. Interesting pattern there with defenders pulling up.
I really hope we don’t concede first, they are well organised and combative. They have done well so far, a draw would not be too disappointing
Yeah, it ain't like a Leicester or even Fulham (who are good) if we let them get a lead (or they deservedly take the lead through good play) then they will be VERY difficult to score 1 let alone 2 off.
