I’m hoping to give my company 12 months notice of my intended retirement early next year. I’m 60 in January, so will be 61 when I eventually retire which is a year longer than I hoped.
I’m very fortunate to have been with my company for 35 years (36 when I retire) and on a final salary pension scheme.

They offer a “run down” package if you give 12 months notice which includes a weeks additional holiday entitlement, enhanced private medical (will certainly be getting an MOT for both the missus and myself!), if you have a company car (or take the cash) you get to keep it for 3 months after retirement and in the last 3 months of working you go from 5 days a week to 4 days then to 3 days etc. There’s also a few other bits and bobs which, when rounded up makes it seem like a no brainer. You’re effectively working for 9 months but being paid 12!

Former Green Party leader Caroline Lucas and TV presenter Chris Packham have both resigned from their leadership roles at the animal rights charity RSPCA.

Not suitable for kids or sensitive adults:

RSPCA Assured deals solely with animal welfare, and it also accredits indoor and free-range farming systems.

    Yeah I agree.

Thought we'd left that **** in the past. Seems more and more people are getting sucked into that bollocks thinking it's some kind of 'anti-woke' agenda.

They are being played big time

Another call to the old Grandmother back home, at any opportunity the conversation changes to politics.

Brainwashing is absolutely at all all time high

Can't get a word in edgeways about how amazing Reform are, Farage isn't just a smart man he's a good man, who cares for people. Every other politician, to a man, who isn't Reform isn't a good person - they're a bad one and should be removed.

GB News have now ran the line that Reform who are overwhelmingly popular amongst the people should be brought in by King Charles. Who can force it through

She's a rather simple woman and if she's falling hook line and sinker, how many other simple people around the UK are falling for it?

Don't even mention fear of Muslims, which has taken a new form "some of them are nice, but there's just them bad ones." That's how the racism is slipped in

I wouldn't be surprised to see Rees Mong put himself forward as a reform candidate at the next election.

Also keep an eye on arch grifter Elon Musk who will pour millions of $$$$ into Farage's campaign.

Oh yes, dare I say billions of dollars into it.

Right now Labour have pulled ahead in polls again, the only company that ever gives the Tory's a positive poll is "More in Common" which always leaning right.

So if this trend lasts the next few years, Labour will coast to a reduced majority as the vote is so split on the right.

But I think it's unnerving that we are seeing a 20% block of the electorate falling for basic right wing insane americanised propaganda like this.

I think that's a symptom of a wider problem with regard to a massive mistrust in mainstream media, science, trusted news sources etc.

A lot of it post Covid too, where all sorts of conspiracies have run rampant as a result. And a landscape where people have rejected MSM as 'lying' to them, but are happy to accept completely unchecked sources of 'news' from twitter, tik tok and instagram etc

You now have a arena of media and politics where anything goes and any **** can claim whatever they want and reach millions of people in an instant. The right wing have played this to their advantage, jumping on anything that they don't agree with as 'woke' and riling up vast swathes of people who think the Govt are putting chemicals in your tap water to turn your kids gay etc.

Musk is an incredibly dangerous individual - a billionaire ego maniac with extremist views who controls one of the globe's biggest social media outlers and, whilst not even elected, has become the mouthpiece for the most powerful nation in the world - which is about to be led by a brainless idiot...

    - if Carlsberg did 'Bond villains' ...

... Wonder if Coldplay will get the to do the soundtrack? <laugh>

Yeah Musk is starting to worry me, and it's no exaggeration when people say he's a dangerous individual. I'm all for challenging situations, because the left are as dangerous as the right, but there's a correct way of going about things, much like Musk calling Jess Phillips out, you made your point, you are on record as having made your point, but now it's become vindictive and I'm very uncomfortable with that. As for wanting another election, please just stfu, democracy says five years, just suck it up and stop the crying, it fooking irritates me. Labour were elected fairly and democratically, I don't even care if they lied, they ALL lie, I will judge Starmer on what he does over five years, not 6 months ffs. Now go and wipe Trumps arse for him and keep your nose out, and I'm someone who is not that tolerant of the left, but I'm even less tolerant of fooking idiots.

My dislike of the geezer goes back to those kids trapped in the underground caves - when the dive rescue team leader said they didn't need Musk's technology in the rescue, he threw his toys out of the pram and called the guy a *****... most dangerous ego on the planet ... instead of focusing on rescuing the kids he was peeved at being denied 'the glory' ...
