I read through the Green card requirements a few years ago when I came back from California and I was like 'Right, I wanna live there' lol

Owning a business that creates jobs for US citizens is one route, but I think you need to invest something like nearly $1m into a targeted employment or infrastructure project that creates jobs. Not sure how that works for small businesses that would only employ 2 or 3 people, but if it's creating local jobs, then you'd think there would be a good case.

Easiest route would just be to marry Californian girl, but I'm not too sure my missus would approve of that lol

Just one bit I forgot to add and haven't properly caught up with this thread yet, so someone might have said it, those that do own property also face another hurdle in life that's not been mentioned in this particular debate, and that's home owners or their families (not talking about millionaires) will have to use what they have left to care for their parents and medical needs, so it really is a case of you come into the world with nothing, and leave with nothing for most people, accept the really privilaged. Hence I just hate it when we single out members of society, because of what some millionaire Prime Minister is telling us from any party, of what we can or can't afford based on their interests. I got no gain in any of this, so it's not problem at this moment in time, I just hate all this knocking of pensioners, if people want to single out the likes of Clarkson and farmers, by all means do, but I'm more defending the little old ladies that will not be filling in their pension credit forms because they are at a time of life wanting to get by without all this aggravation of forms with 200 + questions because we supposedly couldn't think of a better way of doing things. I'm not aiming none of this at you Bobby btw.

Oh btw Aldi selling brussels sprouts for 8p (500g bag) think it was around the same for all veg. I know Morrisons are doing veg at 10p a throw, but also noticed price increases on non veg stuff, crafty fookers...

I know mate. I dont take anything you say personally. You are always up for a good and fair debate. Sometimes a nice little wind up here and there and sometimes devils advocate.

Anyway its always good to discuss these things. Must admit this place has turned me more left wing because i never really contemplated the other side too much or ever had certain facts filled in.

Yeah i was looking at them and they were all doing there own thing and happy like and was thinking earlier on i was talking about throwing them all onto the scrapheap like a tyrant.

I guess the one thing is i know that the world isnt perfect and its about who we can help and whats a good medium and being pragmatic about it all. Theres always going to be some ****er shafted and there will always be someone who thinks they have been hard done by.

No I just worked for a living, many, many 12 hr days but I enjoyed most of it, i will just say if I had been earning all my working life the money I was earning as a freelance Commercial Manager/Quantity Surveyor on CrossRail I would be living in a house worth millions now and just hiring a Private Jet, but for at least half of my time at work I was making money for someone else and for 16 years in Local Government

That was some pension if you still ended up with over £107m, which is why I asked if you was commenting from a private jet. Was the “m”a typo <cheers>

That was the Pension Fund, converting it to yearly income will provide about £500 per month. think this is what most people do not understand about Pensions

The minimum Pension Fund you need to provide a long term income of £30k a year is £250m

My two years as a Financial Adviser taught me a lot about Pensions and what you need to do to not just rely on the State to look after you when you are old and or in poor health because it ****ING WONT
