Meffert? Fair enough. Still maintain if we had got him in the summer, things could’ve turned out different.

My preferences in January for a number 6 would be Hector Kyprianou or Joe Bell. Lewis Wing is good but not really a number 6.

I’ve mentioned Cheick Condé in the past and whilst I think he’s quality, I think he’s probably worthy of a move higher than a Championship team battling relegation. Probably could go to a mid table Serie A, Ligue 1 or Bundesliga team. He also had a huge spat with Zürich’s head coach and hierarchy because he was benched one game and refused to sit in the dugout and went and sulked in the stands so probably some attitude problems there. He wanted to leave Zürich in the summer but no team would match Zürich’s €4 million price tag which seems mad because that seems a steal.

Loreintz Rosier at Fortuna Sittard would also be another good option. His contract runs out in the summer so they would prefer to sell him in January rather than let him leave for nowt. Think he’s been linked with Saint-Étienne for January and he was also linked with Sheff Wednesday in the summer.

I don't think we picked Mehlem for him.

And given he was supposedly turning down a lot of players the Brains Trust took to him, I don't think he was unhappy with who we got.

Zeidane Inoussa. Think that ship has sailed. Out of our price range now, I’d imagine.

Those 3 had played together hit 3 years at least , a small club , they would stick together and back each other wouldn’t they - doubt the same would happen if it was one of the new boys .

ABBA bought him because they heard he was a "Super Trouper"

Couple of years ago I saw the youngsters play a cup final at Millwall. The stand out players were Jarvis for us and Esse for them. Esse has played almost every game for Millwall this season and may be off to the PL in January. Jarvis is headed for L1 if he's lucky. Attitude and hard work make a difference.

You're not wrong. I'd say from my experience of playing, coaching and scouting over the years, attitude and hard work make the biggest difference. I've seen absolute word beaters with zero dedication get nowhere but average players have fantastic careers purely down to grit, hard work, dedication and an attitude that made their career thier life.

Bowens the prime example. Serious engine and willingness to run.

Maybe for some their pathway was too straightforward, with a conveyor belt of people blowing smoke up their behinds, and heads not in the right place to handle it. A bit of adversity can go a long way.

Jarv is genuinely one of the most talented we’ve ever had but he just cannot be arsed. He’ll likely go L1/2 in Jan and could easily tear it up. I still have hope he can make it here he just needs a wake up call. On form he’s the best available winger at the club right now purely talent wise but the likes of Vaughan etc will get the nod due to work rate

I’d argue Vaughan has some natural talent. If anything he needs to beef up.

Oh absolutely but Vaughan had had to work incredibly hard to get to where he is, not saying Jarv hasn’t but Jarv has always found it easy. Vaughan’s dad paid for a private coach for him for years as he couldn’t get into a pro set up at a younger age

    Ye
Jarvis with his talent had it absolutely easy all through the youth ranks and even at u21
But even his talent is not enough to have it easy street at pro level
And so far hes not willing to push further
Happy with the pay he gets
Tale as old as time unfortunately

I agree he has talent but his desire is just not there to be a top Championship player. Ebiowei is the same. Has talent, had smoke blown up his arse at Derby, got a move to Palace and thought that was it, he’d made it.

Ebiowei‘s about to be recalled from Oxford, as he was dropped after four league appearances and hasn’t played for two months.

Sometimes when a young winger comes through at Palace why do they all have the attitude of Zaha, ie lazy?

Yeah I’m thinking the same, his attitude might not have been perfect but he dragged palace along

If you’re a bit of a lazy maverick player, you need to be really, really good to compensate for it and Zaha was, in my opinion. Ebiowei probably is talented but nowhere near Zaha’s levels yet he acts like he is.
