Same players who hugged him as they left the pitch? Come on, I thought people has established that was a load of crap a week ago.

It's a fair question to ask.

However, I suspect the answer lies in the FACT that he's been kept on time after time. He must be valued, by owners and managers (not to mention players).

If he's of little to no value, then nature would have taken it's courese and / or will now take it's course.

Yeah I'm fine with it. I'm just curious as so many people were clammering for him to take over with no actual idea of what he does.

The problem with posting on here is everyone is so aggressive and so desperate to know more than everyone else you don't get a chance to ask a reasonable question without a load of shouty people trying to undermine what you've said.

You’ve referenced ’Cone Man’ in literally every post you have made. I’d say that’s disrespectful. You clearly have some sort of vendetta or shortcomings.

    Anyway, looking to the future.

Not seeing our tactical experts giving any insight into what we can expect from the new man.

I've read he's a proponent of the 4-2-2-2 formation but it didn't work in the 3rd division as essentially the football is a bit too direct. So he adapted and played a 4-3-3.

What does seem to be a constant with him is an intense high press.

So which formation do we see with us? Will our lack of fit wingers not matter now? Can he get a tune out of Giles? Have we the strikers to play his press? Double pivot...high block...trequartista...enganche...inside forward.

Re Dawson, I think is it just as simple as he's a very useful common link between the youth, the first team, a familiar face that knows the history of the club and uses all that to integrate youth players in their step up to training with the first team ( which btw is absolutely frightening, I remember my first session with the first team at 14 and it was absolutely frightening ). Dawson isn't someone who's going to be demanding, rock the boat or on a huge amount in the grand scheme of things.... Which added all together is probably the reason he continues at the club.

It’s not a scientific piece of research, but I’d say with a fair bit of certainty that the number of people wanting Andy Dawson to get the manager’s job permanently is zero. He’s a convenient caretaker who does a half decent bridging job for a week or two. You’ve been at this for three days now, genuinely weird.

Can’t believe John Eyre has been the kit man under so many managers.

    What’s he ACTUALLY done?

You may be right but it's an assumption on your part.

He might have been in their offices after every single training session pleading with them to see the error of thier ways for all we know.

I also very much doubt he was Walters right hand man that would have been his team he brought in.

Looks like Sellers is bringing in his own men too.

I still think theres room on the team for Daws though. I like some long team stability in the wider coaching set up.

    Just my opinion though.

13th May 2001, my lads first game I took him to, think it was our first ever play off game too, kept telling him Johnny Eyre would get us a goal, and he promptly delivered, for me he can stay forever just for that memory alone.

I think most of us would hug someone we didn't like if it meant we got to play Professional Football.

    What’s he done?

He gets the ball, he scores a goal, Johnny Johnny Eyre.

Went to sh**y Hartlepool one Saturday expecting nothing and Mr Eyre scored a cracking goal I think coming in from left wing - went to so many crap losses there , it was memorable - mind you bailing some City scarfers out on the main road when leaving , being bullied , made it a mixed day and my car stayed intact ! Phew

I think I was there. Certainly remember singing the song at Hartlepool away. Probs around Xmas time?

Wonder if we'll see Jarvis brought back into the fold before long? Sounded like he didn't get on with Walter (or vice versa, or mutual). Maybe Selles is a better bet for getting the best out of him?

Think it went from 4 2 2 2 to a 4 1 3 2 / 4 2 3 1? Anyway, shows that he's adaptable, not just tweaks, which will be a nice change, and likes round pegs in round holes (or was it square pegs in square holes).

Also wonder if anyone will bother saying his name properly?!! I guess most eventually got there with Acun. Hopefully out of respect we can do the same with Selle-e-es :emoticon-0105-wink:

If we had a few more Andy Dawson characters in our club we would be at the tigger end of the table.
