I know some of you will be sick of hearing me moan about the lack of subs but I was looking at some Stats this morning

We have made 45 subs this season, the fewest in the league by 18

Here is how the teams expected to be up there fair:

Burnley - 66
Boro - 66
Leeds - 68
Norwich - 75
Watford - 77
WBA - 80
Sheff Utd - 81

Make of it what you will but thought I'd provide some data around the sub usage

you’re right mate

it’s a team game and the change from 3 subs to 5 means you really should be using your bench to change games, it’s ridiculous not to be even for legs, never mind the tactical balances and nuances

All teams miss a couple of players here and there. It's the depth and ability to use who is on the bench that makes the difference. Either RLB hates subs or he thinks the bench is **** and the squad is poor.
…I’d agree with him. Said it for weeks we don’t have anywhere near enough.

Jeezus. How many did patto have to save? <laugh>
We had the lions share of shots. Granted not the best but let's be realistic FFS <laugh>
It's incredible the over reaction by some people after a disappointing result. It wasn't great by any means but a promotion rival have come here and basically defended for 90 minutes. They've barely been in our box. We've had a goal disallowed by millimetres and had two other gilt-edged chances which we should have scored. We win that 1.0 and its a clinical, professional display.

My main gripe last night wasn’t performed based

it’s the fact some fans bood at full time. Happened at Coventry too

pathetic
Why would it bother you? People have paid their money, we’ve been poor for weeks. Maybe the boos were aimed at RLB? Who knows.

Why would it bother me?

you think boos are justified?
Not necessarily but they don’t bother me, I’m not sure why they would anyone else.

Last night was poor, as it has been for weeks. RLB’s lack of subs and reluctance to go for wins in tight games will eventually catch up.

You think we were reluctant to go for the win last night? It’s all we did for 90 minutes

we’re not going to agree re subs last night so we’ll agree to disagree

Yet with 20 minutes and less to go didn’t make a single effort to change personnel or shape to affect the game. West Brom were comfortable, got the point they came for. It should’ve been mixed up.

Fair post from OTR

‘No, I said in the reply that drawing five is frustrating. I just don't think we need to be too concerned because we very easily could have won 3 of the 5 games we've drawn. It's not like we're getting battered, or even look like losing games. We're in a great position with a quarter of the season gone that everybody would have taken before a ball was kicked. We have a decent set of fixtures coming up and I think we'll pick up a good amount of points over the festive period’

Even though we’ve drawn 5 I have to agree we could’ve won 3 so it’s not like we’re playing poorly

I've been reflecting on last night a bit and bemoaning the lack of creativity. Through the middle was so congested,we went wide, but our wing play is very predictable and the end product often not good enough. I was advocating starting with Mayenda as at Millwall and leaving Roberts on the bench. At least Mayenda will go wide at times.
Difficult to see how any subs would have likely affected the game.....it wouldn't have mattered who came on in the middle.

We aren’t getting battered no, but in 4 of the 5 games we’ve drawn we’ve done nothing to deserve the win over our opponents. The Coventry game feels like a loss because of the position we were in but they hammered us second half. Only the game last night we were comfortably the better team.

Agree but I always felt West Brom were comfortable. Never believed we’d find a winner, our play is far too predictable at times.
