I don’t think people are switching to BlueSky to enter back into an echo chamber. In my experience they are doing it to avoid aggressive ****e adverts, the very weird algorithm for post selection that’s now used and the litany of one-subject bots. It probably won’t last as it is for long, but it’s good while it lasts.

Twitter is a cesspit like you say
And im not even talking about poltical views or such

Its absolutely full of bots etc

I appreciate that, the BBC has been good while it lasts for avoiding adverts also, let's hope bluesky lasts as long then.

There appears to be a herd mentality going on with the twitter exodus, I've seen many people extolling the virtures of bluesky who seem to be reacting against Musk and wonder if bluesky is really the calm place they think it is or will it be an echo chamber for a certain persuasion? Trolls and wums will surely follow, you can't leave a rowdy pub and expect the pub next door to remain utopian for long? A similar thing happened with Facebook and if you ignore the rant and moaners it's still a useful media, twitter/x will also survive and already looks a calmer place post the mini exodus.

I don’t think things have really even got started yet, Twitter is now a cesspit and I’d suggest that it’s Twitter that will end up the echo chamber.

Dunno what twitter is like now. I haven’t used it for years and I was more of a lurker than a poster even when I did. It was horrifically censored and leaving one way politically. It was a huge echo chamber for self serving righteous guardianesta types. I’m guessing from the comments here it’s done a complete 180 since musk bought it and it’s overrun by knuckle dragging EDL types posting nonsense?

TBF last time I went on it, it was total idiots from the far sides of both political views.

It wasn’t politically censored, it just had rules, like you couldn’t threaten to kill people, now scrapped in the name of free speech. It’s also now the main platform for the spreading of misinformation. It’s already been banned in several countries and if it remains as it is, it may well be banned in the EU.

TBF all social media is to a certain type of person who can't accept or wants to see different views and opinions to their own.

That’s nonsense, there’s no other site that comes close to X for hate speech, misinformation, nonsense from bots, bias filtered news, mountains of ****e that have no relevance to you, forced in front of you by the owner of the platform.

I never said it wasn't all you just said, nor does it mean what I said is nonsense.

It was good, now it’s not.

I used it all the time, I no longer do.

Of course nobody forced me to go on it ffs.
An odd thing to say on the day he left it.

So you've left it Today then?

A lot of people are leaving it,it's a personal choice down to the individual. If people are more comfortable using something else, then why not...

It all depends how you choose to use Twitter.
There's 2 options - select 'For You' or select 'Following'.
Selecting 'For You' exposes you to what some are calling the cesspit.
Selecting 'Following' leaves you with a very good, very useful, free of charge app.
If you get bored, maybe select 'For You' for a short while, but then switch it back when you're done.
It really isn't difficult.

Let's be honest, this sudden growth of Bluesky is mainly coming from a political reaction against Trump / Musk. I see absolutely no reason to join / use yet another platform.

Firstly, it defaults to For You, so you have to switch to Following and Following no longer just shows tweets from the people you follow (an ever decreasing number at the moment). You also have to scroll through mountains of Bitcoin and Crypto adds and Shein/Temu adds and a whole stack of other ****e (which now continues regardless of how many ‘do not show me this add’ notifications you send).

It’s also impossible to avoid the nutters, there’s always someone you follow who feels compelled to counter whatever nonsense they’re spouting.

I read the Baz posts but hate to open the Hull Live links as it's so horrible to read, how can bluesky make Hull Live readable?
City are very prompt on twitter with lineups, how can bluesky improve this?
I follow a few football journalists on substack ie Henry Winter, as the broadsheets are now subscription, do you get these articles free on bluesky?

It can’t

It’s not Paul Daniels
