Smyth started for NI. Up front according to how Livescore set out the team. Another good result albeit Belarus are a bit of a rogue unknown these days.
I watched the match last night - first half Croatia were all over them, and could've easily been three or four ahead. Modric was sublime, and it looked like only a matter of time til the floodgates opened....and then the red card completely changed the game. Doak was superb in the second half, laying on chance after chance which the Scots couldn't convert. They bought on McGinn and Dykes, and McGinn had a couple of chances before finally burying the rebound that Doak had set up. Sets it up nicely for Mondays round of games
Had a thoroughly more pleasant day than my usual football Saturday at Bromley v Carlisle. Place was rammed with people who don’t really support either but just wanted to watch a game. Good set-up there- edible food and drinks you don’t queue up for three days for with a good range available. Revolutionary stuff.
I’m seriously considering Stratford Town FC v West Bromwich Albion in the Birmingham Senior Cup on Tuesday evening. Thirty minute walk to the ground, beer £4.50 a pint and you can drink while watching.
Good food at Stratford. Most grounds do a burger well done but they insist on cooking it as you like it.
Can’t be asked to watch Eng match, best match today was Anderson v Littler in Grand Slam of Darts 16-15 to Littler fantastic match & gutted for Gary as I’m not Scottish but great player
Sometimes it is a lot less stressful to just be a 'neutral" and enjoy a good football game without all those added pressures. I recall that Carlisle (away) often seemed be one our "bogey" teams (along with Walsall etc.) but they did pass on Stan to us for for the princely sum of just $110,000 that was definitely a nice piece of business for us (compared to current transferees in and out). Feel we should have perhaps let Armstrong "develop" further with us, he was always quite the sight though running at a defence like a bull through a China shop, lots of "raw" effort, sadly lacking in many of our current players, and we still don't have a replacement yet (at least a "fit" one) for the experienced Dykes.
Seems like a great match to have watched live. Doak would have been a great loanee for us, has a certain Maguire look about him.
Andre Gray just scored a belter to equalise for Plymouth against Watford, they got him on a free in October...
